Do you allocate time for yourself?

How fast time flies. Soon another week will be gone. It is nearing weekend again. The project schedule stated that this weekend are working weekends. However, nobody is turning up. The reasons gave are mostly family day, cell group meetings, religious events, and even housework. How pathetic. Most of the days are spent on other people. Someone even complain that he does not even have time for himself. What he said strikes me... Day in day out, I am busy handling the "affairs" of others. My weekends are also burnt not for myself but my family. Do I have time solely for myself? I wonder. Friends, how about you, amid your busy life, do you allocate time for yourself basking in your own self indulgences and hobbies? Or are you always busy for others and forgot about yourself? Why not do something for yourself and share your story. Thank you.

Sure, I have time for myself. I have too much time, nothing to do. All the time I have, it is for myself. Sometimes though, the government steps in and enslaves me. That's about it.

i think you know my friend that I have 4 of my family who are disabled and I care for them , I don't get a lot of time to myself , ( not that I can go away shopping on my own as I am always at the end of a phone for someone ) , I bought my parents a mobile phone so as if I were out they could call if the needed me , but they could not get to grips on how to use it , I even set it so it would only dial my number but still no good , My ME time is sitting here on the laptop chatting to MY Lot friends , that is one thing I really enjoy xxxx

You know bighead, I used to live a life that was not my own. Beside being busy with my girls, I needed to care for the welfare of other people. It was that time that I started to lose my perspective and identity. I may had banged my head as I woke up one day and realized that I was not a superwoman. It took me months to refocus, re-strategize and reconnect with my inner self again. I began to build on my self-esteem and socialized with my friends. Amazingly, i have more time for myself now especially when my girls head off to school. It is an 8 hour of bliss and peace which I treasured with gusto.

I try to when i am not busy with my son or doing things around the house. Even sitting here having a bit of mylot time is nice. My son is playing computer games so we both are doing our own thing for a bit before I got make us something to nibble on. Weekends are great because my husband is home and he spends a lot of time with my son and I get to relax and do something i like to do, whether it is at home or out and about town.

It is not always easy for you to find time for yourself. I often find myself running for one thing to another with little downtime. When the opportunity does arrive I am glad and I like to take full advantage of it. I don't think it is too crazy to ask for a bit of time to oneself, but we also have to take into consideration other priorities such as our family, work and friends and budget our time accordingly, otherwise you could make yourself very sick and be speading yourself too thin.

Yeah, I know what you mean about that. I try to get sometimes to myself and do what I want at that moment. I can't believe how fast the time flies every single day. It is just amazing that I am keeping up with it somehow.

yes I do. I think it's impt to have me time. otherwise your life is just a list of to-dos revolving around other people. sometimes we are defined by our roles, like mother, father, husband, child, wife, daughter, son. but we would need to have sometime to reflect and think about who we really are, and if we had no obligations, what we would really like to be. doesn't mean that we can go ahead to fulfill that, since there are obligations and we need to be responsible about them. but it's impt that we have at least thought it through. i suppose some of those people who couldn't make it for your meeting were also busy having me time.

I learned a long time ago that I needed to make time for myself. If I didn't I would be a mess. I was always doing for others, which I do enjoy, but had forgotten about myself. I was so worried about making others happy that I found out I wasn't happy. Because of this my weight got out of control. I was crabby. I didn't like who I had become, so I started making time of me. I still do and always will, all else can wait. Everyone needs to make time for themselves no matter what, and I know it is hard but if we start now everything will fall into place and we will be happier, healthier people.
