I need to avoid book stores. I cannot wander by one or I will buy a book. I have over 200 books in my house waiting to be read, I do not need to bring home more. But, well, you see, there was a sidewalk sale so really the store could not be avoided as the tables of books were right out there in the hallway at the mall. At least I went for the cheapest books - $2 each. I bought "Classic Adventure Stories" which is a paperback book of short stories written by famous authors like Rudyard Kipling, O.Henry, Herman Melville, Mark Twain, etc. The Canadian cover price was $16.95 so getting it for $2 was a real bargain. (However, not too pleased that the American cover price is $9.95 since our dollar is so close to theirs now). The other book I bought was appealing because it is a book of poems written by a teenage boy. The book is called "A Boy Aware: On Being Fifteen". The jacket price was $27.95 Canadian (got it for $2) and $18.00 American. I think these books will help me with my own writing. I bought a third book, for my daughter. An R.L. Stine book also for $2. Gotta stay away from those book stores!

3 books for $6 what a bargain, even I wouldnt be able to skip pass that sale of books at the mall even if I had 200 books on my shelves - good for you! Recently I bought 7 books for 99c each for my son and I was quite proud of myself considering they where Disney Winnie the Pooh books and they were from the thrift store. Ooh i love book sales :)

Well good for you. Everyone has their favorite thing to buy (like shoes) and yours just happens to be books. Do you sell them after you read them or save them? You should open up a used book store.

My kids have been trying to have a Triple B sale (Books, Beverages and Baked Goods) since the end of May. We had to cancel because of opening day for soccer so we still have these boxes of books the kids are going to sell. We'll bake up some cookies and brownies and make lemonade and juice. Of course I will get a cut. However, I do keep the books I like and these two books I bought for myself today are keepers.

Books can be a serious addiction. :) I know I have that addiction. I love buying books. Most of the time I actually read the books, but I can't help buying one if I think the I might like it. I read all the fiction books I buy. It's the non-fiction that sometimes sit on a shelf, because I passed by it one day and thought hmmm, I'd like to know more about "whatever the book is about" and look on sale. Good luck with your addiction. I set a budget for my books, but never stick with it. :)

wow over 200 books waiting to be read? that's a lot!!! i have like only 5 or so books that i haven't read, and to me that's already a lot lol. 200! wow. my house is full of books too, because my family is the type that likes to buy books and read. i love reading, only that i don't have much time to do so these days. why don't you wait till you've finished reading most of your books first and then buy somemore?

Sounds a lot like my mom...her house is my library! LOL She is always buying books, which is good for me, but her bookshelf is full! I started to follow in her footsteps and was always stuck in a book aisle in the stores. This summer I started taking the kids to the library to get books - so while we are there, I pick up a few for myself. It is so much cheaper and that way, if I don't like the book, I didn't waste any money.

I find most of my books at yard/tag sales. Many are only 50 cents to $1. I can live with that. After I have finished with them I tend to hold on to them. Maybe it is time to resell them or donate them to the local Goodwill store.
