What do you do to get relieved from stress?

There are a lot of things that makes us stressed out. The mere thinking over matters that concern very delicate areas of our lives make us fall into stress. I'd rather be physically stressed out than being "mind-tortured." Unfortunately, I often get this "mind-torture" rather than being physically stressed out. Thank God for people who invented Martial Arts. I have found Taekwondo to be a very effective stress reliever for me. The sweating just makes me feel good, and I get to shout out loud (as we are instructed to shout :)) a lot of times. And everytime I shout, I sort of shout everything out. :) But more than Taekwondo, praying doesn't only relieve me from stress, but also gives me a renewed strength because I just can pour everything to God. :) What do you guys do to relieve you from stress?

I too wanted to shout myself out when I am stress. However, I do not practice martial arts. I am too shy to shout at homes, even at parks. I do not want the unwanted attention. So I pant it out. I go for a quick jog until I am out of breath.

I did consider. Now I am too old for it. I fear for my bones. LOL. I nearly went into TKD when I was in school but my parents do not allow.

You're only 27 right? I started TKD last November, so far, it hasn't broken any of my bones yet. LOL. It has instead burned my fats, made me fit, and stay fit. I think I'm healthier now. I think this will help you think through again, my TKD instructor started getting into the sport when he was already 26. :). And he gained his black belt when he was already 31 years old. Don't you just find that inspiring. :) Try it. It did me good. :)

Taking a hot bath, reading a good book, playing online games, chatting on the internet, posting on forums, walking on the treadmill, focusing on things I'm grateful for, thinking about the big picture instead of focusing on trivial things are some ideas. And one more-sometimes it helps to just breathe and focus on that.

Sometimes a hot bath can make everything okay again haha. Besides relaxing tired muscles, I use it as a stress reliever when it's been a really bad day. And if it's bad enough to cry about, it seems my insides are cleaned along with the rest of me.

I just meditate for 30 minutes a day and if still I am not relieved, I listen to music. If this also do not work, I go out for a walk and sit in a park for 1 hour watching flowers, plants, trees.

Hello again milfea! I used to feel a lot of stress from my previous work, which was in a call center, and answering calls in the wee hour of the night really made me physically tired and stressed out. What I used to do was play computer games like Diablo, Warcraft (defense of the ancients) or even solitaire. I don't know how it relieves stress for me, but it did. Now with my new job I don't feel that much stressed out, so it must really help to actually remove the things that affect your stress. :)

Hi puchapox. :). My Dad does that, he plays computer games as a breather. And right after that, he gets to have all the ideas that he needs. Wow... I don't know why, I guess that just works for some of you. :). It's really amazing. Why not try nature trip too, it's really relaxing. :)

To relieve from stress I usually put on some cool and soft music and then do some meditation, yoga to be more precise. This helps me a lot during exam times.

Hello anousha. :) I'm am so tempted to try yoga now. I'll just have to know where I might learn it, because I'm not sure if there is anyone here (in this side of the world where I am) who is into it. Are there instructional videos about Yoga?

Hey Anousha! :) Thank you so much for sharing me all that. I'm also considering TaiChi. My know someone ho practices TaiChi, and I think he can help me with it. I'd squeeze in these activities to my schedule, after all it relieves stress, and it is just what I need. :) Thanks again. God bless you. :)

I don't know if there are these kinda videos..maybe you can find some on youtube. I learned yoga when I was only 10 years old, from a yoga guru(teacher) who gave them free at that time. But then I stopped due to school constraints. However you must bear in mind that doing yoga is an art and once you have started it you must practice at least thrice in a week coz if you don't you'll lose your physical abilities to do so later. Honestly I've gained lots of peace in it nonetheless I wanted to do reiki also since my mom has being practicing this form of meditation for some some years now and she is very healthy and keeps a very good mental balance. Therefore I would encourage you to learn either reiki or yoga through an experienced person and you will immediately see the difference in you. Good luck and take care (",)

There are many ways to reduce tension and relax. One of them is doing Breathing Exercises. Deep breathing is an easy stress reliever that has numerous benefits for the body, including oxygenating the blood, which ‘wakes up’ the brain, relaxing muscles and quieting the mind. Breathing exercises are especially helpful because you can do them anywhere, and they work quickly so you can de-stress in a flash. I also like to listen to music. When dealing with stress, the right music can actually lower your blood pressure, relax your body and calm your mind. Here are some suggestions of different types of music to listen to, and how to use music in your daily life for effective stress management.

Hey there Mycharm88! I have always wanted to try belly dancing, but the my class schedule and the dance class are always in conflict. So I guess no belly dancing lessons for me. But not just yet! LOL. I'm going to have one, I don't know when, but I'll definitely have one. :). I hope we can do it together sometime, along with Ate Hazel. :)

I stressed out myself by praying, when i feel im loaded with or i am stress all i do is pray, and sometimes take a little time to stay in the house of our Almighty God, there i pray and cry and lit a candle, that way after i leave that place i feel okay and relieved. But in stress like stress for loaded of work, well i used to unwind like watch movie or go to the mall, or sometimes a massage or spa this will help you more relaxed. This way your body feel more comfort and feel free from stress.

you must enjoy your day off by going to the beach, play bowling, and other recreational activities that can help you relieve from the pressures you've experienced either last week or for the rest of the day.
