The Fairness Doctrine

The Fairness Doctrine has come into the public eye as of late, especially for those of you that listen to Talk Radio. Democrats are pushing to reinstate this evil doctrine in order to kill Talk Radio, with which Democrats largely disagree. The Fairness Doctrine was first enacted in 1949. It was created as a part of the anti-communism laws that came about during the Cold War. The doctrine would kill Talk Radio because it would heavily regulate the radio industry by forcing there to be equal time for opposing view points. Liberal radio broadcasts have proven that they cannot exist in a competitive market, as seen by Air America, so the Democrats wish to silence Talk Radio by making the stations that broadcast their shows lose money. Many of the presidential candidates support the Fairness Doctrine and scream about equal time, but they never mention print media or T.V. news stations. I am curious as to what other people's opinions are on this subject and how anyone could support a candidate that wants to heavily involve government in people's lives and businesses.
