We are hoping to rescue 2 Great Pyrenees from some people who lost their farm. Ours will work with or sheep and protect our pasture from predators like Coyotes. Has anyone ever had a Great Pyrenees? And has anyone used them as working/herding dogs? Tell me about your experiences!

We had one when my oldest daughter was a few months old, but we lived in town and he was soooo big . He started escaping the fenced yard , so we gave him to some people who lived out in the country. He was a wonderfully sweet dog . He lived to give my oldest son sugars.

Yeah, many working breeds of dogs tend to be escape artists if they aren't given a job. Pyrs are known from running away when they are companion animals. Hopefully ours will be content when they have a flock to guard.

I haven't owned one, but heard that they are great to have. They are super workers and intelligent.
