Hi friends, I want to share some good experience with you. It's about losing weight. I was over weight and still i am. But, I am losing my weight now. My tummy got more tighter and I am more confident. I have more energy now. The secret is "WALKING". Yes, just walking.. I am from a country (UAE) where it is impossible to go out for a walk particularly in summer. The heat is unbearable. But, my weight was creating a problem. i cannot walk to the nearby grocery store. I brought a treadmill few months back (start of the summer) I used it only once or twice when i bought it. I totally ignored it after that due to hectic life style and moreover laziness. But, later recently found that my weight was getting out of control. my pants dont fit. My confidence lost. etc etc. Then one day, I felt that I should change my lifestyle. I started walking again on treadmill, now with new hope. I started with 3km/hour, 4 and now 5km/hour. And becasue my treadmill is fully automatic, I have to move along with the speed. first day, I walked for about half an hour. i really felt a difference on my stomach. It felt tighter but still the effect was not visible. now i walk for 1 hour daily and I am proud to say that I lost all the fat from my tummy area and look slimmer than 3 weeks back. I feel more confident in office. I have more energy to play with my child. One important thing to those who really want to lose weight. if you are the kind of person who dont like exercise, then brisk walking the the best way. Get a treadmill, walk regularly for half an hour to 1 hour. And watch urself becoming slim. I am true to every word. i know the problems faced by obese people. People with health concerns, please do it only after consulting ur doctor. All the best and have a healthy and happy life.

before our winter started I was walking for about half an hour every night after dinner but it didn't seem to do me much good now that the cold weather is here I haven't been doing any walking and I feel fat so when the good weather comes back I am going to get back into it, I bought myself an exercise bike but someone told me they do much so I will get back to walking soon...

An important thing to remember is never walk after a dinner or at bedtime. Do it few hours before having food or bedtime. You should brisk walk for atleast 30 - 45 min daily atleast for 5 days a week. We should not brisk walk after dinner. Nor before bedtime because our blood circulation is very fast during brisk walk and it interrupts with the sleep. It differs from person to person. I walk 5- 6 days of the week. Walking is the best exercise. I can say that with my experience. Nothing worked for me except walking. Have a nice day.

You can have a light walk after dinner. It's no harm. But, for weight loss purpose, its not good. you need to walk fast (brisk walking) Have a nice day and good luck for losing weight.

Good discussion, I am sure many would read this and also respones. I have just one question. Is it necessary to walk on treadmill. Can't we just do outdoor walking. As per your experience, what do you think, how much walking we should do every day.

If you have good space then u can surely go out and walk. But, do it regularly atleast 5 days a week. You should brisk walk. You should try to maintain your walking speed all the time. That helps to burn more calories. You need really good space or a long pathway like road free of traffic etc. If you are one of those who do not have a place to brisk walk then I think walking on treadmill is the best. You can walk uninterrupted. Brisk walking on street or footpath sometimes becomes difficult due to crowd. We should be in a constant speed while walking so that the process of calorie buring is continued. If we stop in between it wont be that effective. I suggested treadmill because of many reasons. First, our walking is not interrupted by climate. At home we can walk everyday. Even sometimes we do not feel like going out and walk. At home, we can be with our family and watch tv and walk. The best part is if we get involved in some interesting thing like watching tv, we do not get tired. We keep walking. This worked for me. Start with low pace. Like 2 km per hour speed. Then after 10 min increase the speed to 3 km /per hour. gradually. First day, try to walk maximum of 3km / hour speed. From 2nd day increase ur speed. Now i walk 5.5km / hour speed for 1 hour. The calorie i burn is 500=600 approx. I do not get tired now. i watch good tv shows at that time or some movie or some good music. it give me the energy. Good luck and good health

I love the air today. It is windy and sunny, lots of puffy clouds and the temperature is around 75. It is a great day to wash and hang sheets, which is what I just did. They are going to smell so nice! I will enjoy this season tremendously and appreciate it more than I ever have for the seasons of my life are getting a bit shorter, as I have noticed, and I want so much to take in all I can while there is still time!
