I need advice on what to do about this dog in my neighborhood. I have 2 dogs that I walk on a leash in my yard. My neighbor a couple of houses down has a Lab that runs loose thru the neighborhood. Twice this dog has come in my yard and growled at me and my dogs like it was gonna attack. I have become scared of this dog and the owner will not keep it in their yard or use a leash. What am I supposed to do when this dog comes in my yard and bullies me and my dogs?

In our state there is a leash law. If the dog is not penned or tied up you can have the owner ticketed for it. Sometimes they smarten up and sometimes not. Hopefully no harm will come to you. You should buy a can of mace that you can use on dogs. That will stop it cold in its tracks.

I have had others tell me to get a can of mace. And I understand that people would think that is cruel because I did to. But ask yourself if you were outside in your yard and a big dog came at you, would you do what you had to be done to protect yourself? And yes it is the owner's fault. I wouldn't be having this problem if they would respect the neighbors and walk their dog on a leash as we all do.

I would definately carry a can of doggie mace with me. I would rather have the dog go off in pain than for me to go off to the hospital.

i would shoo them away, and if you have a dog warden i would think about calling them if it doesnt stop.

I would call the authorities. You shouldn't have to be scared to go into your yard. Most states have a leash law. Obviously this person isn't obeying it. If they won't do it on their own, someone's gotta make them listen.

Just curious, has this situation gotten better? I know it's been a little while since you started this discussion, so I just figured I'd see if anything has changed. Let mw know if you'd like. :)

I talked to the owners and they have been doing a better job of keeping the dog at home. Although, there are still days I see it coming and just go back inside before it gets here to avoid all the drama. I'm trying to work with them and give them a chance before calling the animal control.
