All this flooding is so upsetting in England ,I have so many friends there and when we see it on the news here in Scotland it looks really heart breaking , the mess and the smell in some of the houses and they are so worried it might happen again, I watch the news every night to see what is happening , we seem to be OK at the moment here so all we can do is wait , here is a link to a Scottish newspaper xx http://news.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=1142732007

Thanks Darling for the link. I have benn having a good time reading it. We have had bad flooding in places here in the states. It happens every year. Makes me wonder why they build again and again in the same flood zone. I just don't understand it but I guess if it's your home you do not want to move anywhere ele.Hugs Sis

And you wonder why the government hasn't stopped any building on that land. it should be used for parks and pasture, not housing

Sadly, weather patterns are changing, we had one of those 100 years rains a few years back here that flooded all low lieing areas, and many basements. people who built their homes on the flood plains were totally flooded out, losing everything, a few even their lives. I suspect it will continue to happen for a few years, then settle down as the climate settles into a new routine. lets hope people are more ready for it next place it hits.

For almost everyday for the last two months here in Texas we have had rain. A lot of areas of Texas are still under water. Our backyard looks like a swamp (without the alligators). We certainly can understand what the people in England are experiencing. May God help them. Albert

Weemam, at the moment I'm more concerned about flooding in Texas. While it has stopped at the moment, it really is too close for comfort. My house, my family are fine, but I worry about my fellow Texans that have/might suffer from the local flooding.

I honestly think that people tend to worry more closer to home and there is nothing wrong with that. For those of us in the UK the flooding IS close to home and some of us have had to deal with that. I am sure the feeling is the same for you having to deal with it in Texas.

A few days ago I also made mention of the flood that our country is encountering in the past years. We also have the worst typhoon. But now, most of our areas are going dry, plants are affected as there are no water from rain, there are some irrigation system but in some parts of the country it would be too costly too irrigate their land. Right now, we are praying for more rains, in fact our church also make prayers and there are many practices we are praying to call on rain. Its better to have rain and a little typhoon but wer are no no to big thyphoons but we need now water and floods for our plants.

What is more worrying is the fact that it is happening in Summer, July is supposed to be the height of the season, we should be worrying about droughts and the humidity not rain and flooding! It's gotta be global warming for sure, and sadly it can only get worse, thankfully where I live is not too bad we certainly haven't had the major flooding here, fortunately, but yes I pity the poor families who have lost their homes xxx

I went to Cornwall in mid June just at the start of the Monsoon Season, and it doesn't seem to have got any better. It was probably the wettest holiday I've ever been on, and I don't think the rain has stopped in England since then. I was going to say that there will probably be a hospipe ban next (and then I read that water is now being rationed in a number of areas).

We have seen a lot of the flooding on TV. It is devestating. I believe it happened very quickly. They received one months worth of rain in one day. It is shocking for people to loose part or all of their homes, plus their possessions. For little kids to loose their treasured toys. For adults to loose irreplacable photos. I am sure the Government & Public in England are helping the victims with their loss.

Thanks for your concern weemam. It has been bad down here in the South, and still is, I am near to places like Maidenhead which bore the brunt of it on Friday, and today my friend who lives in Abingdon had her ground foor apartment flooded when the River rose again. It is unusual, as the South of England usually gets off more lightly than the rest of the country - but not this time I fear:-(( Personally, I live on a hill, so it is almost impossible for my house to be affected, but it's bad down at the bottom of the hill, and I'm not sure how easily I'll get to work tomorrow morning as most of the train lines here are still flooded. Thanks again for your concern.

Thanks for sharing the news link. It's sad to see the homes all flooded and have to repair it. Is the flood close to your home or heading that way? I hope it don't happen. Take care :)

I must admit wee - we have been glued to some of the reports on tv and my heart goes out to all those poor people who are so badly affected by this terrible flooding! I think you and I are safe enough and I feel a bit guilty about that but if worst comes to worst you can all come to my house as I am higher up! Seriously though it must be an awful situation to find yourself in and I have been praying for them! I remember the devastation and smell when I had a burst pipe in my kitchen but to have your house ruined by dirty polluted water must be awful! xxx

I have been watching this on the news, weemam, and it is a bad situation. Hopefully the rains will end soon and people can get back to their lives. It sometimes seems that the elements can be our worst enemy.
