Do you prefer carpet, hardwood, or tile for your home's flooring?

Other choices can be linoleum, bamboo, dirt, whatever floats your boat. I grew up with carpet, so I guess I have always preferred it. It is soft on your feet and seems to keep the house warmer. However, having indoor pets can change my opinion. It seems that flooring such as tile, linoleum, or wood is preferable because stains can be wiped up easily. If the floor feels cold, you can throw a rug over it. How do you like your floors?

Well, my apartment isn't like this, but if I had my own house I would have tile in the bathroom, carpet in the living room and bedrooms, and hardwood in the kitchen. Right now I have linoleum in my bathroom, carpet in my living room and bedroom, and something I have no idea in my kitchen. It isn't carpet, it isn't tile or linoleoum, and it definitely isn't hardwood.
