I think she was one of the first female journalists to make it in the media world. At one time I had great respect for her and thought she was a really intelligent woman. Sadly over the years I think she has lost it and still losing it, naming Paris Hilton woman of the year is one example. The View IMO was her demise. I think it's a horrible three ring circus that seems to just display how b!tchy women can be and less on how interesting and smart strong women are.

Oh God, old age is getting to me, I can't remember what in the world I seen it on, but it was the very year Barbara added Paris to her top 10 most fascinating people of the year. In an interview she was asked who would she pick as man and woman of the year, and she named Paris Hilton. It was either 3 or 4 years ago when Paris had her show on TV. Anyway I gagged when I heard her say this and thought this woman has lost her darn mind. She even said she thought Paris was a good roll model for young girls!!!

She is famous for her journalism and interviewing famous people who noramlly wouldn't do interviews and asking them questions no one else dared....didn't you hear about how she made Ozzy Osbourne cry???? I don't like the show the view- and I hope people stop watching it- all they do is argue and b*tch and moan....I hear all that in my daily life I dont't want to turn on the TV to hear it- that is another reason why I don't watch talk shows where people confront each other.

Wow! She really made Ozzy cry? I thought Sharon was the only one who could do that. LOL. Now I will have to search the web and see if I can find her doing that

From what I heard, she was the daughter of a somewhat prestigious executive of ABC (American Broadcasting Company - I'm not reciting the first 3 letters of the alphabet here.), & that was how she got her break. It also was before things got stricter with equal employment laws & stuff like that. However, she is the first journalist on the air to have a lisp. She has been around for a long time. My first time of hearing/seeing her on TV was when they first started that news show called 20/20. She may have opened doors for people who do not have that certain speech quality/pattern that the broadcast industry desires.

In a sense, back at that time (I forgot to say this.), it was not what you knew, but who you knew. Things seem to be changing somewhat now though.

I kinda like Baba Wawa. She's been around such a long time that I find her comforting. I think her claim to fame is probably that she broke through a big chunk of the glass ceiling and went where woman were just not allowed to go. She's one of the women who paved the way for what I hope will take place in 2008 when we elect the first female president of the USA and for that she has my respect.

You got me there, She sure does not come off as all that bright, She sure does not impress me as a hummer. Its either all myth, hype and smoke and mirrors or she caught some bigwig molesting a minor. I would say she got somthing on someone of corporate stature and ran with his short hairs. But I could be wrong.

The View in my estimation, never did anything for Barbara. She is famous for all of the celebrity interviews she has done over the past 20 years or so.

I think a lot of these women are socialites who put themselves out there using any means or anyone to achieve the fame they desire.

Now thats a good question, I don't have agood answer for since I have never really liked her myself. I know she got a lot of exposure on one of those news programs like 60 minutes, maybe even on 60 minutes, I don't really know. I don't care for her and never did care for her, she has always rubbed me the wrong way for some reason I can't really put my finger on.
