I have 5 pomeranians, I feed them Purina Beneful they seem to like it and non of it has been recalled as of yet. (knock on wood) If you decide to change the food it is always best to stick with same brand or switch 25%-75% couple days later 50%-50% and then couple days later 75%-25% and then go to complete switch. This helps their digestion. I would stay away from foods that have lots of sugar. Beneful doesn't have alot of sugar.

I don't know what kind of dog you have, Jenn, but I've been using Nutro for my greyhound for years. I think you can only get it at Pet Stores (like Petco, PetSmart), but it does wonders for her coat.

Our puppy started off on Purina One and she loved it. Unfortunately we are not able to buy it at any store in our small town so we have had to switch her to Iams. For some reason the store only carries Purina one in adult dog food.

I go with brand named dog & cat foods. I feed mine Purina a lot, Alpo & others. The brand names taste better than generic. (My pets usually refuse to eat the generics.) And I think that the brand name ones are more nutritious. I don't know a lot about it, but I think that in general it's not that important which kinds of food they have. Just so it tastes good & it has a lot of nutritional value.

I also perfer pedegree. My dog used to love it very much. I think if u are unsure which type of food best for your dog, what about buy some mini pad and try for a short period. Or even better, if u r able to consult a pet doctor.
