How many fingers do we have on each hand?

Do we have five fingers on each hand or four fingers on each hand? Would you consider a thumb a finger?

5 fingers on each hand... I don't know of why a thumb wouldn't be a finger. Thats like saying, your small toe isn't a toe.

We have four fingers and a thumb. At least thats what I have always read about. I think it might also be medically determined like that. I am not a doctor or a nurse though.
