Squirrels ate most of my vegetables garden. I had egg plants, cucumbers, roma tomatoes, and bell peppers. As soon as any of these vegetable grow, they ate it. They ate all the buds. I am so sad. My 8 years old child is mad too, because it is his vegetables garden. What should I do? How can I keep these creatures out of my garden beside chicken wire? This is the first year it happens to us. Is there any natural things that I can use to keep them away?

Oh this is no good, the only thing I can think of is the chicken wire, is that no good, we don't have squirrel problems here in Australia so I don't know what else could help you, I think from what I have read squirrels are rather clever so I don't know, I hope someone can help you.

Dried hot pepper. Just sprinkle it around the plants on the dirt. It won't hurt the plant because it's natural. Also, try feeding the squirrels. I know this sounds funny, but if you give them peanuts or pieces of wheat bread they'll begin to know that what's on this side of the yard is for them. Also, plant a couple of sunflowers. They'll skip the vegies and go for the sunflower. That's what I did this year and it has worked marvelously! Plus, the sunflowers are really kool! I had one get over 10feet tall!

Thank you so much for your suggestions. They are all good ideas. I'll try it next year because this year is pretty over for us. Nothing else is growing right now. I loke your avatar! It's cool!

I had a problem with rabbits who kept squeezing through a fence behind one of my tomatoe plants and broke the first plant and then the one I replaced it with. I finally planted some nasturtium I had seeded inside around the third tomato plant and the rabbits backed off. They hate nasturtium. Maybe you could give that a try squirrels might hate it too.

What is nasturtium? Where do I find it? I thought I would just let it be for this year. There are so many other things I've got to do for now. I watch my vegetables went through the budding state, then the next morning, they were all gone. My baby boy is sad, but he knew that the squirrels are fully fed!!!!

There are too many squirrels to do the live trap. They are way way too many this year. My neighbor's garden was totally eaten. She had to just give up and cleaned out her garden. Nothing is left of her tomatoe plants. It is sad. My garden still survives, just not fruitful!!!I have lots of leaves from all my vegetables left...
