For me, misers are those sit on golden throne, sleep on silver bed yet weep to buy food for themselves.

To some extent, I am a miser. Let me tell you why. I don't like to waste my time doing meaningless and helpless things. I love my time to be used properly. I would feel sorry if my time is wasted without doing my loved work. Therefore I think that I am a miser in time. lol

I am happy to hear that, my dear friend. Thanks very much. And I love your topics. I am waiting for more of yours and will come online again tomorrow. My wife is urging me to let her use the laptop now. Good night, friend.

I don't consider myself a miser. Mind you, I know how to save and I choose what i buy. But when it is necessary like food, groceries ... I splurge on this kind of thing. Sometimes when i really like something I would save for it and buy it. But have to refrain myself not to spend on the next month or so..

As long as you are able to control the mind with respect to purchases, then there is no problem. Thanks for neat response.

I learned the importance of saving at an early age. I still remember that I always had money on my wallet and in fact, I really loved receiving wallets as gifts because I would save as much as I could so that I wouldn't experience being low on cash. I first opened a savings account with a local bank when I was still a school girl. I tried to be as thrifty as possible and spend only on things that I really need, such as food and transportation fare. This way, I didn't ask for allowance for my school projects as often as I should. Eventually, I was able to save. And this habit went on until I got my first job after graduation. However, I really wasn't able to continue doing this when my husband (who was still my boyfriend then) and I met. And it worsened when we got married and had our first child, along with the soaring prices of commodities. Also, having a credit card really burdened us in the long run. Now, we still have an outstanding debt with our two credit cards; but I'm hopeful that we'll be able to pay-off all our existing obligations, and save for our daughter's education as soon as possible. I don't consider myself a miser because I don't sacrifice buying food, rather, I believe that I'm just being thrifty.

It was interesting reading about your habit of saving. I feel you should continue to save as much as You can, because it comes handy when one is really in need of money. One should not save at the cost of one's health (no need to avoid eating food food). Thanks for the reaponse.

Perhaps i am coming to this topic at the right time, when our economy is taking a reversal. In this circumstances one has to be certainly a Miser to save or protect themselves from the bleak future. With the growing prices, and the income of the working class not increasing in proportionate to the rise in price of the commodities, every Indian can not afford to be spendthrift. It is the habit of Your's truly, to think twice before spending. Only necessary articles i will purchase. I don't go for luxury items, and one each for every brand. I try to be content with what i possess and never brood over the spendings made by the affluent sections of the society. All those who have or glued to earn only through legitimate ways of earning money can only afford to be a miser in the present scenario. Friend, excuse me if i am too harsh in making the statements. Take care.

When you know a person even only through mylot, one need not mistake for receiving harsh words. Since nothing is personal, and your response is always viewed with curt and grace like some of my best friends' response here. Thanks.

Save for rainy day my friend. When one is in need of money for some important occasion, it is difficult to find it. Spend only when it is enevitable. Alsways spend less than what you earn is the forefather's advice which I meticulously follow.
