The national animal of Philippines is carabao. It stands for the fortitude of Filipinos. As most people know, Filipinos are very hardworking, very similar to carabaos who help diligent farmers till their farms.

Hello youless!:-)
My original national animal or as you say representative animal is called "Flare-Horned Markhor". It is from "Bovidae" family of animals from "Artiodactyla" order which belongs to "Mammal" class coming under "Chordata" phylum. It is a Temperate forest or Shrub land animal mainly found in Western Himalayas. It basically eats vegetables and grass bit it's name literally means "snake eater". It is a goat like animal. I am also uploading it's picture from wikimedia commons. You can find more details from here:

Tiger is the animal which represents my country. This animal could be found in the deep tropical jungle here. The most precious and rarest species of tigers here is the white one. It is sad that the number of tigers become less and less because of the unfavorable environment factors and illegal hunting of this animal. So in our country they are animals under protection.

Hello youless, this discussion is four months old and i guess it came back to circulation again which is good because i can reply. I missed it when you started i think. I am from India so our animal is the Tiger. The Bengal Tiger was almost on the brink of extinction. But we have saved it for now. I have added a picture for you;)

I live in the US. I always think of the Bald eagle when I think of the United States. They are so majestic and free. Like we should be!

Hi,youless!
Besides panda, there are lots of other animal in the representative animal lists. But needless to say, panda is the most famous animal in China.
Personally,I think both dragon and panda are the representative animals for China, however, dragon doesn't exist in the real world.:)

Actually, our country has three animal symbols, the water buffalo or carabao (national animal), the Philippine eagle (national bird), and the milkfish (bangus), the national fish.
Known locally as carabao, the water buffalo is probably more closely associated with the Philippines than with any other country and is reportedly considered the national animal.
