When it was freezing cold,

When it was freezing cold - Will you switch on the aircon, fan or none?

do you switch on the air-conditioner to full blast and wear a jacket? No, it wasn't winter time. The weather was rather cool. In fact, it was raining. The air conditioner was set to 19 degrees with the fan in high mode. To me, it was already freezing cold. However, one odd person (in my opinion odd because he insist on setting the temperature low) rather wear a jacket than adjust the temperature or fan mode. I am very sure I can survive even without the air-con on. Friends, do you switch on the air conditioner even when the weather is cold enough? Or do you prefer to use a fan instead? Or are you like me, able to survive fine and well without the air-con and fan when the weather is cool enough? Kindly share your warmth threshold :)

We don't have air conditioning in Scotland , no need for ir pal , I like to be cosy all the time , I have the heating on in the witer and even now when iy is supposed to be summer here it can still be cold at night and I have the heating on for the odd hour , I prefer the cold to the heat though if given the choice xxx

I stay in bed, rolled-up and try to be as comfortable as possible. That for me beats standing in front of the heater or having to put on heaps of clothing to beat the cold. Or the second which tends to happen without myself even knowing it is to stand in the hot shower for ages doing nothing and only coming back to reality once my parents start to bang on the door, telling me to hurry up and not waste the hot water.

If it's cold enough outside, I definitely do not have the air conditioner going. Sometimes I might turn on the fan if it gets too stuffy in the house, but that doesn't last for very long. I just can't see setting the AC to 19 degrees though...I think your friend would be better off in an igloo. LOL

If its cold I switch off everything that is making me cold LOL and leave it like that. I don't like the cold so I prefer the house to be warm. I have since turned off our aircon this morning and the house is nice and cool but not cold which is what I like. If it starts to get very cold then I take a hot shower to warm me up again.

My husband is like that, and he just about freezes me sometimes. It's a never ending battle. He turns the air conditioner on and a fan, and then covers up with a blanket at night. I am constantly getting up and turning stuff off. I am perfectly happy with no fan or air conditioner on, when it's not hot.

Has he ever tell you the reason why he switch on air-cond and fan and then cover himself with blanket? I too have friends who does such.

If it's 80+ degrees farenheight outside I usually use my AC. But I also never turn the AC lower than 70 degrees farenheight. Usually it's set no lower than 75. When I sleep though I need to be cold so I always keep it on the "freezing" side in my bedroom. If it's lower than 80 outside though I open the windows and use a fan. I have a cat and I live in an attic like apartment so it gets pretty hot in here and stuffy and I don't want to hurt my cat!

well I mean... in all honesty I won't have problems being in a stuffy attic, whereas I could kill my cat leaving him in a stuffy attic like atmosphere. My cats important to me. I wouldn't say I treat him better than myself, but I treat him like I would my child I suppose.

In our house we have an air conditioner and a fan in every room. I only turn on the air conditioner when it gets really hot and humid...because I can't stand the humidity. Other than that I just turn on a fan....

At times, I do prefer the aircon to the fan, even when the weather is cold :)

Yeah, I am always cold in the summer time. Everywhere I go the stupid AC is always on. So, wherever I go I take a sweat shirt with me and that usually takes care of that problem.

A jacket or sweater at the workplace should help well enough. In my office many have a jacket on the chair.

Hi bighead. I may have a very fine skin but I prefer to have my air conditioner blasted to high cool. I'm so used with the winter seasons having lived in another country for many years. No matter how cool the air around here, my body is still begging for a more colder place. I confess I can't live without an air conditioner. God bless the creator of air conditioner. :)

When it is relatively cold season , I would even switch off the electric fans...the question of switching on the air conditioner does not arise at all.

Huh? 19 degrees? Do you have elephant skin or what? My aircon is fixed at 27 degrees. As for that weird person, I guess he likes enjoying the warmth against cold, or he feels vengeful against the company and so want to waste its resources. For me, aircon or no depends on whether the window is closed. Hard to breathe if I don't switch on aircon when the window is closed.

That was the temperature that wierdo set. Someone would put it to 24 and he will move it back. When he is gone, I just off it. Perhaps my head acts as oxygen tank. lol.

yes it has been freezing! for all our advanced technology and modern state stuff, we are really dumb when it comes to simple things like adjusting aircon! in my workplace the aircon is centrally controlled. when it's hot, the aircon is too low and thus stuffy. when it rains, the aircon becomes too cold. this is natural since air from the outside is drawn into the building. however, their themostat is obviously not working or something cos when it's set to 24 degrees, it should adjust accordingly. but somehow we are still stuck with this situation. at home, these few days, I've been sleeping with the fan on lowest mode, just to keep the air circulating. when i went home yesterday the whole house felt like it was on aircon! even the walls that are usualy heated up by the evening sun were lovely and cool.

When it is central air-con, we have no choice. However if you think the central air-con is not working properly, go to the building management! I know some office install own aircon units or have fans on standby. I would think a jacket is common among the workplace :P
