I don't want to know what for, I want to know if it was scary. What made it scary?

I was onlce, and it was scary even though it wasn't really a big deal. I was 17 and in a car accident (not involving anyone else), but my insurance verification wasn't in the car, and I was ticketed for "driving in a manner not reasonable and proper". Since I had a clean record, the cop told me I should go to court, and they would probably work it to where I could pay court charges and keep my record clean. They did, but I wqas scared silly, though I knew I wouldn't go to jail or anything.

Yes. But not once, I think it as thrice. But not with scary feelings, just as a routine official purposes. Earlier as a banker, went to the court for plaint submissions only.

I went to court for a traffic ticket years ago. My speedometer really was not working correctly and I had an affidavit from a tester to prove it. I was still terrified and the judge still did not dismiss the ticket until the court clerk argued with him and spelled it out for him. I've always wondered if the judge was just having a bad day or if he really was that stupid. It was a rotten experience and I don't ever want to go through it again.
