Are You Going On Vacation?

I'm starting a new job this week and last week during the interview, they asked me if I was planning to go on vacation. I told them that I was laid off almost a year ago and that I need work not a vacation. However, it did get me thinking because the last time I went on vacation was roughly 20 years ago. I've had a few weekend vacations over the years but I haven't even had that in the past five years and would love a good vacation. I'm talking about the kind that I can go stay in a four star hotel, have room service, shop and see sights and not have to think about what's happening at home or if I will have enough to pay the rent or bills or buy food the following week. If I had my choice, I'd take a trip to Oregon to see what all is up there and choose where I want to move. My second choice would be to go to Colorado - probably the Durango area and take the Durango-Silverton Train ride again and visit Tamarron again and maybe Mesa Verde. Of course, I wouldn't mind going back to the Royal Gorge, either. And, in California, I wouldn't mind going back to Yosemite or Sequoia. Basically, I'd just love to go some place scenic and fun! So, what about you. Are you going on vacation? Where to? And, where would you go if you could choose anywhere?

My hubby always takes his vacation around the time of our anniversary. The last few years, we have gone to Reno, NV to lose all of our money. LOL But this time, we have ownership in a timeshare, where we can pick any destination we want and aren't tied to one place. We will probably stay in California, and go over to the coast for a few days and kick back and relax. The condos are like little apartments, so it will be super comfy. Hopefully next year, we will get to go to Hawaii and enjoy a week or so there...I might have to take the kids, and it won't be on our anniversary. But hey, it's Hawaii, so who cares? LOL

Hawaii is great! I'm not sure I'd want to take the kids because it's so romantic there and you and your husband could have such a good time. However, I understand wanting to share it with your children as well. Have you ever been to Hawaii? Whether you have or not, let me know and maybe I can make some suggetions. Also, which island (or islands) do you plan to go to? I've spent time on Oahu, Maui, Hawaii and Kaui and they all have different aspects that are great. It also depends on where you plan to stay. If you are going to be in a timeshare condo, then I'd suggest taking some snack foods with you in your suitcase because it's extremely expensive over there. Even if you are in a timeshare and won't have to pay for the place to stay, make sure you start saving now for food and entertainment and transportation. Of course, you may already know this but if you start preparing now for it, you will be able to enjoy it much more. In fact, I have a few ideas that might help you to have so much more than just money when you go. I used to be a travel agent and I tend to be very resourceful so email me with your general plans and I may be able to help you get a lot more out of your trip.

Wow! You are so awesome hon! I appreciate the offer of help, and believe me, I will be taking you up on it. We haven't even really decided on the actual island or anything like that. We just know that we would like to go there. Any suggestions, and those wonderful money saving tips of yours are more than welcome. I'll email you soon so that we can start "strategizing". LOL Thanks hon.

I'll be looking for your email. First of all, you need to let me know if you've been there before and the ages of everyone going (just in general). Also, will you be using a timeshare condo and where is it located? That's some of what I need to know.

My goodness you sound as bad as I am as far as how long it's been since going on vacation...I haven't gone anywhere since 1978!! But that was mainly due to my phobia problem then all the other problems that crept up over the years...the last place I went was DisneyWorld---I would love to go back sometime to see how much it's changed..I once looked at the DisneyWorld website and they have one hotel/resort that is themed like an African safari..take me away!!! Once I get over my "problem" as far as travel..anywhere and everywhere...I would really like to explore just about every state first here in the US...but instead of a four star hotel I'd rather go to some kind of a bed and breakfast kind of place...especially in the countryside--I was born in CA but never seen it...was only a baby when my folks divorced and my mom came back to NY--you said Oregon? Would especially love to go there, plus Washington, Alaska--like I said...at this point --anywhere!!
