Yes there are rules in my house- not like that though- My daughter gets up on school days- not a rule she just does- She has a bed time on school nights- She can sleep in on weekends if she wants to- We stay up late in the summer- playing out side. Be respectful- Homework first before tv or computer- or practices- Chores also- Be good!

Before when my sons are younger and in the elementary school, we have certain rules for them to follow, like doing school assignments first before playing game, watching tv or computer. However, now that they become a bit older, we don't have rules for them to follow. They move and do what they like. But I do ask them if they already had finished their homeworks when I see them on the computer. I am not so strict on them now.

well, i don't have kids yet and i am only living with my hubby at the moment... so there are no really strict rules yet in my house... but when i am a child, my parents impose a strict rules on me such as sleeping and waking up times, breakfast, lunch and dinner times, no TV or games before studying, church times and so on... i think it is very good as it shapes me to become the person i am now... discipline and more responsible...

Yes, a busy son. He loves to study, especially world and Chinese history. He loves to read newspapers and magazines on international and domestic news and military in his spare time after school. Thanks for the best response, my dear friend. Have a good day.

it's good to have a house rule so to keep eveybody intact and to tell them that there is rule in the house to be followed, to avoid any chaotic activities in the house and to demand respect...

With four kids rules are needed or things get crazy. One big rule is no TV, video or games without asking first. Bedtime is 9 oclock, even for my oldest boy who is 15. The kids don't have to sleep then, they can read quietly in bed for a while, but I need an hour or so before bed to myself.

I think the rules are for me more than the kids. If I don't have some time to myself I go cazy. I teach other peoples kids at home most evenings, so after that about an hour with my kids and I then need to decompress or go crazy. It is now the summer holidays so going to bed time is relaxed more, older kids want to watch TV or DVD at night. My 4th grader just goes to bed at nine because he loves the early morning, he likes to be outside and with the heat here the only good time is early morning!

Hey. Yes we do have a set of rules in our home, for our children and so far, they respect these rules... Like yours, our children are 11 & 14 years old and growing, they know they have to be home before a certaint time, they also know that their playtime comes after assignments/homework and chores... Sleep time for them is 9:00-9:30 and wake up is 7:00am, every morning accept sundays...

We don't have a rule. A rule will sound so strict. Our schedule can be very flexable. As to my son, I think we will have a little bit fixed schedule for him. Such as we will wake him up at about 7:30am and then he will go to bed at about 9pm. Sometimes the time can be changed according to the situation.

My child is only two years old and I think I still yet can't make rules for her. But at this early, I am trying to tell her to return all her toys to where they should be after she played with it. Her sleeping time still varies depending on her mood. Her feeding time still varies. i knoe this is wrong but when i have to do something and she can't be involved in it, I let her watch the television just to put her attention away from what I am doing.

yes we have rules at home. infact it is good that we should have rules in home becoz we will be punctual and have good habbits . but the rules should not go beyond the limits. when i was in school my father used to keep rules like i should play between evening 5pm to 6pm and then i should study upto 9 pm and i should go to bed at 9.30

Though i have no child yet, i think it's better to have time schedule, caz first i think time schedule can make them healthy, if they don't be regulated, they will be disorder and maybe will go bed very late which will absolutely effect their following day's study and their growth, as i know children won't be tall if they sleep late. Secondly, i think time schedule will let them have good timing notion on their adult life.
