Do you think it's better to post random trivia or personal experiences?

One of my favorite past-times is posting stuff about my everyday life on My Lot. It's fun and gives me something to do between loads of laundry and cooking dinner. But, apparently not everyone shares my theory that sharing is caring, especially when it comes to personal experiences. For awhile I tried posting more generic questions about household cleaning problems, pet issues, cooking questions, etc. But, they didn't get very many responses. So, I had to let them go. Since then, I've learned to dig deep and let it all hang out. So, I was wondering where do you stand on this issue? Do you like to post about your everyday life, mommy moments, cute stuff your kids do, etc.? Or, do you get better response with general discussions, random trivia, etc?

I have found good success posting questions about cleaning and house-work. Also the thrifty or frugal living forum on My Lot is very active. If you post discussions in the Mylot.com forum, you will most certainly always get an answer. Hope that helps! Best of luck with future posts.

Whatever gives me an opportunity to respond is my favorite. Some people post a small moment fron their day, and I have no clue what to say. All I can think of is a one liner, and that isn't supposed to be something we post a lot. They don't ask opinions, it is just a snippet that no one really knows what to say about.

I prefer real life discussions to random trivia discussions. There are dozens of places I could go online to play trivia games, but that isn't the reason I come here. I come here to talk about real life experiences and get some honest feedback. As for the number of responses, I agree that it is nice to get a good amount, but the number isn't all that is important. As long as I get quality responses, I don't mind if there are only a few of them.

Pretty much, I'm the same way. Until recently, I thought that I was doing pretty well if I got three decent response on My Lot. Then a friend pointed out that she was disappointed with her low response rates. Turns out she had ten or fifteen responses on her discussions and considered that low. I had no idea! After that, I revised my view of what low response means. Sometimes when I hit on a popular topic it blows the roof off. But other times when I miss the mark, I'll get zero response. Not sure why.

I post a little bit of both. I don't like giving too much information about my personal life over random strangers on the internet. But I will tell some funny stories about my daughter and ask for advice here and there.

I'm with you on that one! Just funny stuff from my regular day. That's what works for me. And, people do love to give new parents advice.

It seems to me that the discussions that get the most responses are those that deal with real-life issues or deep-thought questions. Random trivia doesn't do much for me. The everyday life circumstances are better in my opinion.

I'm still very new to this site, but I will respond to discussions on two parts regardless whether they are deep and meaningful discussions or trivial snippets from daily life. If I have something to say about anything I will respond, and personally I like reading all types from random takeaway food to relationship problems.

I think a little bit of both is good to post.

Personal experinces to me is better then ansewing triva questions that make no since half of the time. I also start my disscussions with personal experiences it seems a better way to get to know someone to me.

I usually post here general issues. I don't think I ever post anything like politics etc. I don't care much of how many responses I got. It's more important for me that someone shares their story, views and advices if needed. getting many responses but mostly similar is not better than getting small amount of unique or helpful responses. just what I thought

Looking back at my discussions, I think I am more on the personal side..like what's happening on my day to day activities, work, household etc. I tried not to devulge too much personal info but I also find it hard to start a discussion that I am not totally related to or something I couldn't relate.

As I have observed, posts related to real life activities gather more reponses and it is easier to view out opinions with this kind of discussion. It take a lesser time and effort talking experiences related to the topic.

I have noticed a lot of posts that don't make any sense at all, as if the person posting just wanted to post and came up with something lame. 0 reponses to those I noted also. I am fairly new here, so I think once I get into things I will post some personal, but for me, some of my personal stuff is so deep its the reason I go online, to get away from it for a while, LOL. I also think it depends on the age of the person posting and responding.
