What is the first thing that comes to your mind?

I think of the movie "Better than Chocolate" and this song called "I'm not a f***ing drag queen". The character that sings it is basically complaining because she honestly wants to live her life as a woman, and has to deal with stereotypes of what a transvestite is all the time. The song is really funny in a way, but also really touching, because it made me realize what a struggle it is for people who are trying to become normal members of society as the gender they feel they are and yet are compared to "drag queens" all the time, which is a totally different thing. Not that I have anything against drag queens either, but a drag queen is a performer and a transvestite is someone who honestly feels they were born in the wrong gender's body. While some transvestites might also be drag queens, that doesn't mean ALL are.

Hi Annabanana, Well, that person has my respect because it takes alot of guts to go out dressed like this. He/she must feel its importnt to them to do so. I think some people are getting things a bit mixed up though. Transvestites/crossdressers are usually straight just dressing up because they enjoy it. Drag queens are usually just trying to put on a show and they dont usually take it seriously. Transexuals are people that are born with the wrong gender and usually have an operation to correct there given gender. I can see how most people can get these confused. If I seen a crossdresser walking down the street I would just say hi and be on my way. Take care, Terry
