We are all one

The belief that one religion is right, and all others wrong, has always been the cause of much suffering. More wars have been fought over this issue then any other. It is what,to a large extent,is causing all the turmoil in the world today. Isn't it time that we take a look at making some changes? I know that this won't be easy, because of what we have been taught, but change we must. I believe too, that the change will have to come from the ground up, because the leadership don't want to give up control.I'm convinced that those at the top don't always believe what they're telling the "flock". It's time to realize that God does not play favourites. We are all one, and if there is to be a future for our children, we'd better act fast.

I was with you right up until you said "God", because then you still automatically seem to be favoring monotheist religions over any other, as well as saying that one must believe in a diety, which still narrows the field to specific religions. So what are you trying to say here? Are you trying to say that people of different religions should stop fighting while still maintaining their own beliefs? Or that everyone should give up their religious beliefs?

Hi lecanis, thanks for the comment. Sorry if I misled you or anyone for that matter. I am trying to say that we must all learn to respect each other, and live together in peace. I don't favor monotheist religions over others, nor do I believe that one must believe in a diety. It's a matter of choice, but please lets get past this "I'm right and everyone else is wrong' bit.

I was just kind of pointing out how easy it is to be misunderstood in that way. By saying "God", there were people who would automatically feel their religious beliefs were being left out of what you were saying would be acceptable. It's nearly impossible to make everyone feel included, which is part of why it's so hard to make peace. I totally agree with you that everyone needs to get past this "I'm right and you're wrong" bit, and that there's no reason people of different religions can't get along. I have friends of many religions, and am even married to someone of a religion very different from my own. If we can respect each other's religions, then I don't see why others can't do the same.

religion is just a way of life. it imparts discipline.....if we really follow it. but religion no religion instructs us to hate other religions. so we r all equal.

I think some religions are wrong. Not all religions cannot be right. I study religions and I am absolutely convinced that some religions ought to be considered as wrong and bad and evil. For example, Satanism. Can you say that religion like Satan worship is right? Satan by definition is evil and bad. You may nor may not believe in Satan, but evil worship is evil and so it is bad. Or for example, take religions that believes in one god and no god and compare them? Which one do you think it right? Trying to figure that out is very very difficult and it requires so much of effort and study. I believe we need to respect what people believe. But saying 'whatever you believe is right' is quite wrong. Respecting what other believes does not mean that what they believe is wrong. Some people believe that there are 550 million gods and goddesses. And some believe in just one. All human beings are equal, in the sense that we all have the human rights. And so we need to respect other individuals. so in the public square we need to talk with civility and respect. Since there are various beliefs we need to talk and discuss and listen to one another and find the what is right and what is good. If we just say ' all religions are right' and then leave it that we are deceiving ourselves. And the peace we thought we have brought about will collapse because peace cannot be built upon the foundational stone of lies. Even if we succeed for a while it will not last. For our sake and for the sake of our children and their children we need to discuss, interact with people from different religious background and debate with civility... that is freedom of speech!

Hi headhunter525, Thanks for your comment. I am not judging one religion over another. I know very little about some religions, and would not be able to comment on their teachings. My thought might best be conveyed by saying, we are all children of the universe, and in that sence are one. Right and wrong depends on who you ask, as has been shown many times. Perhaps William Shakespeare said it best, There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

yeah we are all one, i think everyone's equal, even if we all have different religions. we shouldn't judge someone by their religion or criticize their religion. everyone's the same and all religion teaches their followers to do good things, not bad things. .

I like your subject line, "We are all one" because wouldn't that mean that there is one creator? Or did many different creators make the different people in the world? No, there is but one creator and the Relationship with Him is all he wants. G-d does not have favorites, He loves us all and for us to treat each other so badly, I am sure it makes Him sad. (Like when your children fight, you feel bad because you want them to get along)

I agree, Pose123, but I think we need to take that one step further. IMO, there is not necessarily a "God," not just that he/she/it doesn't play favorites with one religion vs. another. Your post above at least gives the impression that "of course there is a God." This, too, must be abandoned not as a *personal* belief, but as a given that everyone must think there is.
