Should married couples have joint checking accounts? My husband and I have joint account and it works out fine. But I have heard that couples should have their own accounts as well as joint accounts. What do you think?

I'm not married yet and me and my boyfriend have a joint account. He also has one of his own so out of ours comes the money for groceries and gas and out of his comes the money for bills. I think I get the better end of it actually. :) I think if you can trust your significant other then go for it! If they have a spending problem then I wouldn't do it.

I think it just depends on how much you trust them and if they're good or bad with money. :)

Like most other things like this, it depends on the people involved. If you're both mature about finances, you could have joint accounts for everything, but if not, separate accounts may work better. I think each couple should sit down and talk it over and then choose what is best for them.

It depends on the couple. If one is the soul bread winner thay might feel that they have total control over all the money. But, I do think that a joint account and individual acoounts are okay. God Bless
