Many people say : There is nothing new under the sun.

Our elders used to say whenever we did something, (not a discouragement at all) Oh! nothing is new under the sun. It was done before. It is easier! My great grand father used to do that work in less than half time you have taken!! This statement is meaning to say that every activity what we do today is already performed earlier by someone - sarcastically said nothing new under the sun. So someone responded that "it is true, nothing is new under the son, everything was in existence or is in existence. only it is modified. My question is when everything people do now, if it was in existence - the idea, the shape, the form, the type etc. then no one seem to have original thinking at all?

Thanks for your example and explanation for that. I think that I have understood that. Well, I agree that when we are doing something, there is possibility that it has been done by our ancestors. Only when you are a very creative and imaginative person can you invent something new that nobody else has ever done. So I can still say that there still exist the possibilities for those creative and imaginative people to do something new under the sun. Thanks again, my dear ssh.
