My 2 fave books of all time have been: (1) Clan of the Cave Bear (an historical novel about cave people) (2) Interview With the Vampire ('nuff said!) Both are awesome with poetically beautiful writing.

I'll give you a book that I thought was amazing the first time I read it about 15 years ago and still remains one of my favorite books of all-time. It's not necessarily an adult level book, but the content and the message resonate so strongly with me that it's a book I will always hold in the highest regards: Maniac Magee. It's about a young orphan who is a playground "legend" who is caught in the middle of a very racially divided town. He goes from befriending and living with an African-American family to living with a Caucasian family to even spending his nights in the buffalo cage at the zoo. It's an incredible story of the innocence of children, the struggles of racial divides, and family all in one great story. The characters are awesome, too... from 'Maniac' himself, to 'Mars Bar' Thompson and the McNabs. If you've never read it, I suggest you read it, no matter what age you are. It's one of the best stories I have ever read.

Let's see, "Father Joe," by Tony Hendra. And "Jitterbug Perfume," by Tom Robbins, "The Bone People," by Keri Hulme, and when I was a kid, I read "The Bounty Trilogy," and of course all the Black Stallion books. And the Little Women books. Now I'm working on "Letters from the Earth" by Mark Twain. What are they about? An amazing monk, hippies in the 60's and their crazy adventures, a dramatic love story set in Australia, a mutiny on the high seas back during the French revolution I think, horses, and a family of girls growing up. There are alot more, but that's what comes to mind right this minute.
