Is TV A Waste Of Time?

Since becoming a step parent I have spent alot time with my kids and have noticed something. My kids are so addicited to tv. They watch it as soon as they get up and try to sneak in all day to watch it when they are home. I remember when I was younger on a nice day you could'nt keep me in. I was always out exploring or doing something but nowa days you ask the kids what they want to do its either tv or playstation. Is tv corrupting our children and making them lazy? In my eyes yes but whats your opinion?
