I Timothy 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. I have several friends and family members who send me jokes and cute stories through my e-mail. Today, I got one that made me almost fall out of my chair laughing. There was a man who worked all of his life and saved his money. He loved his money more than just about anything, and was a tightwad about spending any of it. Just before he died, he said to his wife. "Now listen, when I die, I want you to take all my money and place it in the casket with me. I wanna take my money with me." So he got his wife to promise him with all her heart, that when he died, she would put all the money in the casket with him. The man eventually died and on the day of his funeral, the wife was sitting there next to her closest friend. When they finished the funeral, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said "Wait a minute" She had a shoe box with her, and placed it in the casket. "I hope that you weren't crazy enough to put all that money in the casket" said her friend. "Yes, I did" the wife replied. "I can't lie and I did promise him." "You mean you put every cent of that money in the casket?" asked the friend. "I sure did. I got it all together, put it into my account and I wrote him a check" As I sit here, still giggling, I can't help but think about the poor husband who had put so much stock in his money. His values were on the things of the earth and he made no mention of the things of heaven. Where are your treasures? Are they like the husband's and built up here on earth...or have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ and built your storehouses up in heaven?

I totally agree with you. You can't take it with you. I just wish we had a little bit more to not have to live from paycheck to paycheck. I have all kinds of business dreams that are only dreams. Thanks for sharing this with all of us to remind us that we can't take it with us.

Well, it never hurts to have dreams either dear! Remember that dreams are what realities are made of. It's when we put our dreams ahead of what God wants for us that we get into trouble. I need to remember to pray for God's guidance in my life every single day!

Well, the Lord is really blessing me with a few part-time jobs. I got one a couple of weeks ago then last Thursday I got another part time job and then today I received a call for another part time job. Most of them are only a couple of hours a week. But the one for today is 12 hours a week. The Lord is sooo goood.

Haven't heard from you much lately...how are things going? Did this job work out ok? I know that not having anything full time, or having something that you don't like can be a pain in the patoot! We are so loving our church. It's been almost 5 months and we just fall in love with her people all over again every single week. We're seeing God move in people's lives, souls saved and the church is growing in numbers and spiritual matters. You need to come see us!

Although am late ith this I have to rspond to this question. In our devotion we read Ecclesiastics 11 adn while my 9 yr was rading it some things were going thorugh my mind. I asked what she thought about it and she said to me that we should live our lives with meaning while we are young. I asked her again waht is one of the most meaningful thing you can do with your ife she said learn at shool and be oabedient. Now I look atyit and say we shoudl serve the Lord from we are young giving him everything, I am 38 and it is hard for me as an adult sometimes to trust God and I say it must be harder for hthese younger people with all these distractions!. I have made Jesus the centre of my life and I beleive in walking in obedience to the Word of God and I encourage otheres to do so.

It is hard at 40 to do that as well! I try to ask for God's guidance each and every day, but sometimes I find myself doubting what I know in my heart that he's telling me to do. I want to look towards Heaven and scream "You want me to do what?"

Welcome to the club! Sometimes I feel as if the heavens have turned as brass on me and I want to give up then I remember that Jesus felt this too. Remember on the cross "Father, Father why hast thou forsaken me?" I draw strenght from God knowing that he is my helper and my all in all. Thanks for choosing me as your best response.

Now that's funny! She sure was smart enough to put it in the account and wrote a check but think of it he can't cash it. LOL Thanks for sharing.

I wish I were this smart! I'd have never thought of that. I would have just kept the money and gone on! He can't take it with him right? lol It is such a great reminder to me of what is really important on this earth and what is going to be important in heaven.
