when i arrived home yesterday, I found a piece of advert for home cleaning services. I was immediately interested in the window cleaning one, since my windows are larger than usual and there are about 30 panes in my place. And window cleaning on high-rise apartments are potentially hazardous, so I have not really attempted cleaning with a ladder etc.
However, my eyes popped out when i saw the cost. 90 SGD! that's like 50-60 USD!
would you pay for home cleaning services? Do you clean your own windows? How do you keep it safe if you live on a high rise apt?

Whooos. are you staying at Duxton Heights? Perhaps I am a moutain tortise, it didn't occur to me housing apartments need window cleaning services. The price is for one-time or a year? Perhaps if you sign a contract, it might be cheaper. And in my opinion, it might be worth it clean and sparkling shine windows are a concern :P
So far, I don't think I have seen any cleaners except for some commercial buildings. No, I would not pay for window cleaning services. I clean the windows myself. If I can reach, I clean it. If not, I just clean the inside. I do not risk cleaning the outside using a ladder. I use a mop instead. Try it. Use bamboo pole is necessary. Tie a cloth (or wet wipes) to one end of the bamboo pole. It works well, and you need not do it yourself if you have someone else doing it for you. lol.

haha, duxton heights is still under construction! it's 90 bucks for one session! thanks for the mop suggestion - i'll try it but tends to leave tracks (water stains).

hmm... I think age is catching up. With HDB windows getting bigger and bigger, it is taking longer and longer to clean them.
In time to come, I am not the least bit surprise if I have to engage someone to do the cleaning for me as well.
A cost that cannot be avoided if we want to enjoy life a little. Else it is to endure the pains in the back after cleaning the windows. Medical bills to ease the pain would be much much more than $90 liow loh!

that's true... but a bit heart pain to pay $90 big ones for something that i could do with $5 magicklean and a cloth. but danger cannot be put into dollars.

I use to work as a window cleaner many years ago when I first left school and it's hard work. We didn't do the high rise windows though, the guys in the harnesses and ropes did them and they were expensive! For safety though, best bet is to get an expert!

Well since we are living on the second floor, I only clean the insides and the ones on the porch I can clean both inside and outside. I wonder if our building manager ever gets them clean? I will have to check that!
