I use to hate getting stuck in conversations like that, but know I just try to follow the advice of Jon Bon Jovi from his song, "Have A Nice Day". "When people get in your face, I say "Have A Nice Day" and end the discussion.

People like that are not even worth talking to but Have a nice day is a good come back.

Thanks for the comment. It does seem to work in most cases.

In such cases, I just pretend that I am following the discussion while letting my mind roam away, so far way from the pretentious person. I guess, that is why some people think that I am a good listener, so ironic, isn't it?

That's a good one! I laughed out loud after reading it. One can only hope that the speaker isn't long winded or has really bad breath. Seems odd, but those who like to get in your face, usually do.

And that's exactly the right way to go and deal with people like that! Have a nice day!

Thanks for the comment. I get this kind of thing more than I care to, but I guess that is one of the curses of working in customer service. If only the loud, obnoxious and opininated really had any good ideas.
