Tick, Tick, Tick - last days of 49

Once again, I have a 3-day weekend. These are my last 3 days of being in my 40's. I turn 50 on Monday. Of course the weather forecast for the weekend is rather dismal. Rain, thunderstorms, yippee! If I had been thinking clearly I would have gotten up at the crack of dawn and drove to the beach. Ha, like I could afford the gas for that trip.
My sister is taking me to lunch today. Afterwards I am picking my DIL up to get her out of the house. My son states she needs some alone time and he wants to clean the house for her while she is gone. What we will do with our time is beyond me. While camping this past week she managed to get a nasty scratch on her eyeball. She is wearing an eyepatch over it. I am sure that she is in a lot of pain from it. I cringe when I think of getting a stick in the eye!
Well, I guess I will have to sit around and age gracefully. Maybe I will just bring a book with me to the chaise lounge and sit in the sun and read for a while.

Cheers! 50 is not so bad I found life to be better as I got older, kids grown and gone, grandkids to enjoy, woohooo what could be better? enjoy your time with your DIl and maby after lunch you can enjoy the mall or something like that. Hope her eye is ok.

Happy Early Birthday my wonderful friend and hope that you enjoy the weekend and time with your family. Do not worry about turning 50 as you are still young and beautiful. Age is just a number. We are still all young at heart. Hope your DIL will be okay from her eye injury.

Happy almost birthday! Did you get your tatoo?? If you posted it I missed it- Just getting out of the house will be good for her- especially if she is thinking about her eye- and what a great son- to clean the house for her when she is out with you! How sweet-
Have fun with your sister- and I hope this weekend was fun -- we were supposed to have rain the whole weekend- and it has been gorgeous so far!

You sound like you are going to have a busy day. Yes and I hate those high gas prices as well. Oh and I hope your daughter-in-law's eye is okay. She won't need to get glasses, will she or lose her eyesight in that eye? I would hate to think of something like that. You said you would have to sit in the chaise lounge in the sun and read a book and you told us about the potential thunderstorms. You must be very optimistic. Well enjoy turning fifty. At least it is not what happened when I turned thirty. Then people thought you were over the hill.

oh,elusive, I know how ya feel.I felt the same way when my 40th crept on me. 50 isn't so bad ,not nowadays.50 is like 40 nowadays. I do hope your sister heals,how did she scratch her eyeball

They were camping and she was looking for firewood. A stick from a branch scratched the cornea.

Well Sweetie as I always say you are as old as you feel
But I have to say that it does feel strange going from say like 39 to 40 leaving the 30s behind well in for years I will be there to leaving the 49 lol

Hey girl Im glad you have a 3 day weekend. But the weather here is crap! Its so humid here I wont go outside. I hope you have a great lunch with your sister. And I hope her eye is okay. Now dont forget to put the sunscreen on. Because your probably white as a sheet like me.heheheheh And soon your birthday will be here!!!

I am right behind you and am looking forward to a new decade. It promises, with a bit of work now, to be better than this decade you and I have been in. You have a good family to be part of. I am pretty much on my own and with a select few friends. I don't think the eyeball feels pain. Am I wrong? Anyway, she must look quite dashing with an eyepatch. My cane got me some good conversations when I had that.
I vote you girls go get silly somewhere. Coffee house or library or even the mall. You can do alot of window shopping for free. Ok got to get the pretzel or cookies anyway.
I hope you can look forward to this and I personally thank you for sharing this. I shall follow your lead! lol

I hope you have a wonderful 50th on Monday. Maybe have a nice meal somewhere.
Sitting in the sun reading a book would be fine by me.
Although will your DIL want to do this?
My daughter was scatched in the eyeball two years ago, by my step son throwing a book at her, & it was painful. She also had an eye patch & drops.So I guess your DIL is going to be limited in what she can do. Listen to music perhaps, while you read!
