If you were walking in the woods and rubbed up against poison ivy would you know what it is before you got the rash? What would you put on the rash to help it go away?

I'm NOT ALERGIC TO POISOM IVY BUT MY BROTHER IS VERY ALERGIC. we USE calamine LOTION.
