Would you give your Teenager a Pre-paid debit card...?

to teach responsible spending habits? If so, how old do you feel a teen would be ready for this?

Yes, i would. It is right, in my opinion, to make young people learn how to use modern economic systems.

So far, I haven't come across a debit card that places a limit on them. That's the only thing holding me back from having my son get one. Don't want him to spend all his earnings...just to learn a lesson.

Well, you know, young persons don't make much cash on their own, so they are the parents that should control the situation...

i agree with your statement that this how to teach your kids to be responsible. make them realize the value of money. 12 years old i think or even younger.

Thanks for the response. I guess the age could also be determined by the maturity of the child too. Every teen is different.

I think it is a great idea. You give them enough responsiblity that they learn how to manage money but don't get themselves into debt.
