Why is Yahoo email so bad at catching spam!

About two months ago I got a new Gmail account and Yahoo email account. Since then my Yahoo email account has caught eigth spam mails and let over 2000 assorted spam style messages through.
However, my Gmail account has captured and contained over 1000 spam messages and only let through 100 real emails from friends and legitimate businesses.
Don't get me wrong. I love Yahoo email. It's easy to use and saves me time, especially for My Lot messages. But, their spam protection stinks! What do you think about this issue?
Do you prefer the spam email protection offered by Yahoo email or Gmail? Which one do you think is better at keeping spam mails out of your email box?

I've found that Gmail is very good at catching spam. I have eTrust EZ antispam from Roadrunner for my Outlook Express account. They do a good job as well. I don't have any experience with Yahoo email, so I couldn't say for sure about them. But it sounds like they don't do a good job. I mostly use Gmail for all my email. I like the filters that can be set up so my myLot notices all get sorted out and go to one folder. That is very handy.

Good grief! You know a bit of everything, don't you? That's a pretty neat trick for Gmail to do. I would love to get mine to do that. Do you know where it lets me set my Gmail account up to do that? Is it automatic or would I need to sort everything manually? I'll check it out.

That is phenomenal! Thanks ever so much. I copied the information onto a text pad and saved to my computer for permanant reference. That's just the information I needed. Often when I go to Gmail daily I have to sort through fifty emails just to find conversations from friends and survey invitations. Many times I have missed out on big opportunities because I don't see my important mail in time. This post will definitely save me lots of time and money. Thanks again! Best response goes to you.

I don't have Gmail, but I used to have Yahoo. They were terrible keeping out spam! But then, so is hotmail and lycos. My main e-mail provider is getting bad too. At first they were great. Now I get spam, AND when I try to block someone, it doesn't block them!
