Passive smoking is considered a major health issue the world over. The effects on individuals exposed to secondhand smoke are difficult to quantity, but studies have now established an increased risk of coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease and lung cancer. Y DO U THINK SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES SHOULD BE BANNED??? your opinion really counts...

Few years ago, our city has already implemented the ANTI SMOKING ordinance and many have been apprehended and jailed. Beginning this month of July the entire world has been jubilant and mostly accepted the NO SMOKING Ban to finally get rid of the health hazards of smoking specially in public places. I am favorably campaigning for its stricter compliance specially peope who continuously do this bad habit. Smoking in public places should really banned because of its effects to those who do not smoke. No one should have to inhale second-hand smoke. Many smokers do not realise that by smoking in enclosed places they are endangering the lives of their children, workmates and even innocent bystanders who just happen to be near them. Their smoke is killing some of the people they love and care for the most.

Due to smoking, its not only the non smokers are getting affected but also the smokers as well. People know what they are getting into but also they continue.

i agree that it should be banned, but i wish you could see the attitude here in south africa. the health people do their best to fine, jail and catch public smokers, but they do nothing about people who make fires in their homes. im not kidding. theres a huge problem here. even if they have stoves. i wish you could see the blanket of smoke over every town at night. it looks like thick mist.

In your case it should be taken very seriously... Many people are dying due to other people's pleasure and satisfaction and also who try to show off their coolness to their friends...

I totally agree with all you said about passive smoking and the diseases people can suffer from if they are smoking either active or passive but I think the passive smoking will cause more chances of diseases as compared to active smoking. Some people are allergic to smoke, flowers, some have asthema problem thats why smoking must be banned in public places.

I smoke too, but I agree that smoking should be banned in public places, eventhough I smoke I am also considerate of how others may feel if I am smoking beside them. Also, I am fully aware of what smoking can cause the smokers and the passive smokers....lets just say...I'd like to keep the smoke to myself.

I totally agree with you. I am passive smoking. Two guys in our office are addictive to smoking. They keep on smoking from morning to afternoon, which makes me cough and sick. But they don't take my feeling into consideration. The government should make a law to ban public smoking.

why should they be discriminated against for your sake? If a company wants to allow smoking they should maybe not take non smokers on ;) In fact, I am about to take on two staff and even though smoking is prohibited in the workplace I may just say "non smokers need not apply" for the hell of it.

Why not. I think this is a personal thing and everyone shouldn't be involve if they don't want to stay healthy too.
