A Happy Photo for the Weekend

Lily July 2007 - Lily on her first trip into my garden unaccomapnied today

OK - so this is the photo, and the news, I thought I would never be able to post. My beloved Lily made her first trip into the outside world today after almost 4 months (15 weeks to be exact) since the accident that nearly killed her. I thought she might be scared when it finally came to it. But, being the feisty little madam she is, - she just trotted off with her tail in the air, and not a care in the world:-)) I was scared of course, but later I watched her playing in the garden, climbing the trees, "ambushing" any nearby insect, and then lying in the sunshine purring, and I realised she is happy because that is where she wants to be. To try and keep her in would be selfish on my part - she is an outdoor cat, and if anything should happen to her out there in the future, I will know she was at least happy, and not feeling trapped. At the moment, she is back asleep on my knee as I type this. So she and I would just like to say thanks to all our friends and everyone who has supported us through Lily's bad times, when they told me she was a few minutes away from death on many occasions.

LOL! Yes - she did! And yes - she is very happy! I keep on checking up on her by looking out of the window - but my partner tells me not to stress because she really IS happy!

Aww I'm glad your kitty finally got out again after all that time of just wanting to get out :) I guess you guys were able to find something to keep her inside until was really able to get out again without being hurt! I hope that was just one of her many long lives that she'll still make it through!

Well - we tried - but it was very stressful! In the end she was trying to "escape" all the time, and harming herself in her efforts - so it was safer just to let her go:-(

I realise I am late answering this, so I hope Lily is enjoying her freedom once more. I cannot believe it was 4 months ago, the time has flown by, although not for you I'm sure!! You must have been so nervous letting her go out for the first time but she does sound like a fiesty wee thing and I am sure everything will be fine. This is a story with a very happy ending, I am so happy for you Rosie:0)

Yes - you're right! She is totally enjoying her freedom, - and with the weather being so nice at the moment too, the only time she comes in is to eat! LOL! I WAS very nervous when I first let her out -in fact to be honest I still tend to be, and look out of thwe window all the time to see if she's in sight within the garden - but she's so happy, it would be cruel to keep her locked in anymore. Thanks for your answer.

Rosie- she looks so beautiful and that picture shows how content she is being outside. I would have been scared too, letting her out, but you can't protect her from everything- she is happy outside. Besides I think if you kept her inside she would drive you and your partner crazy as she did before, she could hurt herself just as easily in the house as outside. My Buca dislocated his tail just playing in the house (and he was in much pain). You are doing the right thing...God Bless her-- may she have a ling and happy life!!!!

Awww - poor Buca:-(( Actually an old cat of mine, named Tansy, dislocated her tail once in the house too - but it doesn't seem to be so painful for cats as it is for dogs. It didn't seem to bother her anyway! Thanks for your response my friend.

I'm so glad that Lily has made a full recovery and is now enjoying herself again. The picture shows that she loves being outside, and your right, you can't force her to stay indoors however much you want too! I had trouble when one of mine had to stay inside for a couple of weeks. They are much happier being allowed to wander freely around the garden and not restricted to indoors.

I am so happy to hear that and see her picture outside at last. I agree with you not wanting to keep her in the house. Shes happy out there. She is one lucky cat to have an owner as caring and loving as you and you are lucky to have her. I wish you all the best.

What a beautiful cat! I do not know the story of what happened, since I was absent from Mylot for some time and am still catching up. But I am so glad to hear that she is well and happy and that you are happy! You sound like a great pet owner. Lily is lucky to have you, and I think she has a pretty name, too!

This is the post and the photo I've been waiting for. Darling Lily and her darling Mum and Dad...you've all been through so much and now here you are, finally...on the other side of it all. Everyone is happy and well and I'm so pleased. Sending loving hugs and cuddles to all of you including the other furry siblings. xxx

Do me a favor rosie and give that Lily a great big hug for me...What a wonderful picture of her...she does look content and happy, and I bet she's so glad to get that darn collar thing off her--isn't it amazing how cats can heal so fast...much faster I think than a human would and without as much complaint either...Thank you for sharing this with us!

I will do my best - but at the moment she won't let anyone pick her up, because she's afraid we're going to take her new-found freedom away from her again! If you go too near her to try and pick her up, she runs away outside and laughs at us through the window - LOL!-

I am so glad that things turned out so much better than expected for Lily! She is a beautiful little girl, and you are right- if she feels confined in the house she will not be happy. I am sure that it is hard to let her live outside again, but someone was looking out for her through all the hard times and helped her heal and maybe she now has a guardian angel to watch over her all the time. Good luck!

Thanks. Well she comes into eat and sleep - but at the moment she is so excited to be outside again, and the weather is warm - so I haven't seen her much today! As long as she is happy though!

Rosie_123 I am not sure what kind of accident Lily had I can only assume that maybe she was hit by a car. But I am happy that she is able to get back out. The picture you posted of her, she is absolutely beautiful cat.

Wow, my friend, that is truly wonderful, what a great happy ending, you hear of so much doom and gloom lately so it's very warm and comforting knowing that Lily has made it through the worst and is now gallavanting in her own little kingdom! She is the queen of her surrounds and it must make you feel warm and glowing inside! Thank you my dear friend and Zeus sends his love as always xxx
