Theft ~ Do you leave lights on to distract thieves?

I do leave lights on. Not as a habit; if my housemates are home, I don't worry about it, although I tend to leave the oven light on just so anyone can see to go to the bathroom or get a drink, and THAT is main-floor and would carry through windows. Usually I'll specifically make an effort to turn on lights on the main floor if I'm home alone, or if the roommate who is also my best friend is away. I just feel less safe overall (though not consciously) if he's gone.
