What precautionary measure do you follow while making online credit card payment

I personally feel that in near future increasing number of online payments will be required through credit card . But rumours regarding credit card fraud and cheating are on the air . But i am not sufficiently aware of them . What precautionary measure should we take ? And what measures do you persoanlly take?
