I really don't think they require much more care than other plants. Of course, I happen to be very partial to roses so I may not be exactly objective. However, my roses don't take up any more of my time than other plants, and less time than some. For example, my hydrangeas have to be watered daily or they literally wither up and I have to make sure that I've got diatemaceous earth sprinkled around them constantly to keep the slugs at bay. I water my roses once a week and hose them down real good weekly to take care of bugs - and I put out ladybugs every year to keep the aphids off them. I fertilize my roses twice a year - other plants need fertilizer every month. I just don't think they are all that much work.

That would have broken my heart Jellen. The last time I moved I left quite a few roses. But I also dug up a bunch of them and brought them with me. I get very attached. I also plant alot of David Austin roses and, besides being expensive, my favorite varities are not always easy to find.

I don't have any roses at my current residence but then I don't have any flowers that require any care here. Up until now I have been working at a job that required 12 to 14 hour days most days and just didn't have the time or energy for anything extra. I did have a beautiful rose garden at one time, however and I do feel that they are well worth the effort. I do plan to have a rose garden here as well when I again have time to devote to them.

Yes roses are worth all the hard work they are the most beautifully formed flower with the most beautiful scent, not to mention the variety of colours, they really are beautiful.....I would love to have a deep purple rose, I haven't had much luck with the Blue Moon which is a lilac colour....
