Is there anything remotely healthy on the menu at Chinese restaurants?

I'm trying to make a real effort to eat healthy for the next few months, so that I can take off the baby weight. But, it's going to be tough. I love fast foods, especially Chinese food take-out. It's hot and ready to go when I'm hungry and I don't have to heat up my kitchen just to get dinner done. I'd love to integrate some Chinese dishes into my current better eating plan, but I don't know which ones would qualify as "diet" foods. Is there anything remotely healthy on the menu at Chinese restaurants? Does anyone know where I can find "healthy recipes" for Chinese dishes?

The best bet for Chinese dishes are the ones with little to no sauce, no MSG, a lot of veggies, and are steamed or stir fried. Try to get a stir-fried beef and veggies with brown rice, steamed Buddahs Feast or something similiar. Many Chinese places are now realizing that people do want to eat low -cal and have options right on their menu. If they don't, ask the person you order from about what is on the menu.

I never would have thought of that! Personally, I was afraid that Chinese dishes were out completely. Happy to see they are not gone for good. Thanks again.

Hi. I would say, steam bok choy or any veges for that matter and rice... You can also buy a tea that has so many health benefits... Im pretty sure its the answer to chinese being small and petite... I read about Oprah Winfrey drinking this tea, among other celebs... Check the link out, its quiet interesting... http://www.wulongforlife.com/

When we go to Chinese restaurants, we always get the vegetable soup which is crisp-cooked veggies in broth and stir fry veggies and tofu. Obviously, steer clear of deep fried items and substitute steamed (brown) rice for fried rice. I like to throw together an easy stir fry with a bag of frozen Asian mixed vegetables, garlic, soy sauce, and a little oil. I serve it on brown rice.

I think that steam veggies is pretty healthy. Even better when they mix it with their tofu. Tofu actually is a healthy food too.
