Another Puppy Drawing

Another Dog Cartoon - I drew this little dog with a charcoal pencil on newsprint, inked it over, and scanned it into Paint Shop Pro to colorize.

This cartoon is kind of goofy because the door casts a shadow but the dog doesn't! I always forget something. Wait until you see the cat I drew with three legs!

I'm really impressed with people who could draw using computer programs. It takes skill to complete a drawing. I heard it is a lot easier to choose textures and colors using these programs. How do you start drawing? Do you upload them or use computer programs?

Thank you. Although I do have a good Wacom graphics tablet which helps a lot, I start most of my drawings by hand, usually beginning with a newsprint pad and drawing pencils. After inking the outline I either scan or photograph the drawing to get it onto the computer where I use PaintShop Pro 8 software to fix it up, add color, or animate. Version 8 is the last one JASC made before they sold out to Corel, so although it is not a new release it works well for me. I have always had great respect for JASC's powerful yet affordable programs, and was sorry to see them go away. Of course, if anyone here is using any version of Corel's PaintShop I'd be interested in hearing what they have to say about it.
