How do you tell someone to stay away from you on My lot?

We've all met people on My Lot that we would rather not deal with. Not only are these people annoying and argumentative, they are often down-right mean. Lately, I've noticed way too many of these people for personal comfort. And, even though I haven't seen them on my discussions lately, I am sure it is only a matter of time before they find me! So, here's my question. How do you keep these people from posting at your discussion and causing it to get deleted? How do you keep argumentative people away from you? Would you send them a private message and ask them to stay away from you on My Lot? Would you simply ignore their posts and hope they got the idea? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I wish i knew how to spam or send viruses LOL kidding. I would tell them to keep the hell away and if they refused then report to mylot. Not sure if anything will be done but still i would report it. Ignoring their posts is another thing and just not letting yourself get involved with their petty arguements.

Definitely, report them! Don't know why I didn't think about that one. Still half asleep. LOL! Got Homer on the brain.

Well, there's that and a grumpy spouse! He thinks he's entitled to work on my computer 24/7, so he's in some kind of mood. Men!

There was once a mylot user who I responded to but who insinuated that I just copied my response, and I told her it was ridiculous; then I told her about my profession and why I knew about those stuffs, which I learned way, way back in college, some almost 30 years ago! I don't know but she just disappeared here. I have not tried avoiding people because usually my discussions are on the 'safe' side and I avoid sensitive topics such as religion and politics...they would only draw argumentative people, then we fall into the prey. I haven't done much to along this line...but this discussion is quite stimulating; I know people would love to respond to this....

Mostly, I've only ever done one such discussion on a similar vein, but it was more of a rant and not an invitation to chat with others. And, instead of accepting it as just my opinion (which everyone is entitled to) some people took special pains to point out how wrong I was from both a moral and constitutional point of view. As if everyone but me were entitled to their own opinion. It's just opinions people! Deal with it. With that being said, I'm here to make money and such discussions usually get deleted anyway and then I don't make money. That's not kosher! So, I stay away from certain topics these days. Freedom of speech? Yeah right!

There are an ever growing number of these types of people hanging around Mylot these days which is why I'd like to see an ignore user feature added to the site. That way they couldn't see or respond to your discussions and you couldn't see theirs. If everyone could ignore them, then they'd most likely go away pretty quickly.

I have not encountered this situation personally, but I would simply just ignore them and not acknowledge them. If they continue to cause trouble, contact the Mylot admin and tell them the ID of the person. You should not have to have posts deleted because of someone else.

I haven't really had that problem so far. I suppose you could send them a private message and politely ask them to not respond to your discussions. I would be polite the first time. The 2nd time I would be more forceful about it. If they just don't stop, I suppose you could contact myLot management about it. It is too bad that there have to be people who ruin it for others.

I haven't had any real issues with anyone so far. But, when I started here, there was a joker who kept stopping by my discussions with funny (sort of) comments. At the time I was way too polite and thanked him for his joke and that is the last time he bothered me. He's a regular jokey man anyway. And, some people actually like that, but it always hurts my discussions so I try to stay away from that kind of thing. Good to know there are only a few rare ones around. At least I hope!

I think anyone can give a comment since its open to all just like me.Even if it is a good comment or negative its just a comment.Just widened your mind to understand them since they cannot harm you physically. To avoid them just don't right negative comment that is offensive to others or they just cannot understand.

At first, I'll just give them a simple warning type of response/comment. Because I just won't allow someone downgrading or stepping on me here, that most of the times I report some of them then continue and get back from my usual posting here. But if they still keep on initiating arguments way off the topic or cause me something that I know is fair here, then that's the time that I give them a little thought of what I really have inside my head. Too can play their type of games, just bring 'em on!;)

I had a unpleasant encounter when I first came on here with a particular Mylot-er. I think it was really my fault as I am a bouncy jokey type by nature and I replied to a discussion in that way ....and came unstuck..!! It was taken as a rebuff and the person in question called me by some unpleasant names. Of course I apologized but that was not good enough as they kept on at me so I just kept away from that person and have had no contact since.......I hope!! So I think you might just let it slip over you 'beautyqueen' and get on by enjoying your other friends and contacts here and ignore those that abuse! I wish you well...!!

Hello beautyqueen26, I understand what you mean but I don't know if we have any way to stop them from responding to our own discussion. As this is a public place to give your two cents opinion, I don't think there is much that we could do to stop them. I suffered a few times because of these people. Maybe we should tell My Lot to let us edit our own discussion and delete the one that 'brings more harm' to us rather than a good advice!

Hi! Although I am quite new here, just registered a month ago and only started participating 2 weeks ago...I did encounter rude replies on the discussions I have replied to. The very first time I encountered a rude comment, I wanted so badly to reply the way she did, but in the end I just ignored it. I have always respect everybody's opinion even they are contrary to mine and we can always disagree without being rude, nasty and downright mean. I guess, if you ignore this kind of people they would somehow stop and leave you in peace. But of course there's also a time when we have to really fight back. Well, this is just my point of view. Have a nice day!

you must be a pretty girl here, and i can understand your feeling. really bad, isn't it. what i want to say is: take it easy, anything you do has its pros and cons. Before you do, you have to evaluate it carefully. you must keep this question in your mind: what do i want to get from the internet. Technology, is always a two_edged weapon. we can get a lot from it; news, fun, friends, and so on. it's improtant. but there are also some bad things here, nasty pictures, dirt, cheat, unwelcomed people and too many other things. like flies in summer, you can never get rid of it completely. shall we close all of our windows in summer to prevent them? obviously not. you can take actions to do that. I have some ideas about your situation. First, do not blad any personal messages to strangers. and becarefully to fill forms from unknown source. you can fill some fake ones if you have to. Second, if someone goes after you and you can do nothing about, just leave it alone and never tell a thing to him or her. after a period of time he or she must lose interest on you. so you can live well again. i think the most important thing is the way you look it. Mylot is a very good platform for us to communicate. and i believe the most people here are kind. so cheer up, little girl, use it carefully, you will enjor youerself here.

I seem to have been able to deal with most by confronting them in discussion, but that's not really a good way to handle some of these "rude" people. I think I would make sure they were not on my friends list and if they came into my discussions, I would ignore them for as long as possible. But, if they actually report your discussions and get them deleted then that is a different matter. It's worse than abuse when they do that. So, in that case, I think I would report them to admin as being vindictive towards me, and attacking me for no particular reason, getting my discussions removed. I hope that's helpful... Brightest Blessings my friend.

I have only come across two myLotians who are extremely offensive and I avoid them. If they respond to my discussions, I ignore them. If they are abusive, I report them. If their response is such that it could result in a discussion being deleted, it definitely should be reported by the poster and by all who read it. If this happens, I am sure it would only be the offender who is deleted, not the whole discussion.

I inore them myself and mark there reply negitiveespically if it is a rude comment. Then I just don't say anything to them at all let them talk they will stop eventally. They are being childish or at least that is how I see it.

hi beautyqueen, I had this happen to me on my first day of joining mylot..If I could go back and handle the situation different I would..It's best not to respond to them...They will keep coming back if you respond..I don't know if they would come back if you didn't..my experience was that this person responded to all my topics i had up at the time..The best way to handle is ignore..but if they do come back just report it...
