My Brother is very sad,who can help him?

A girl who is my brother's classmate called him yesterday evening.they were on the phone for an hour.when he said goodbye and hung up,he observed that someone have eavesdropped on their conversation.he knew whom have done this.it is his mun.he is very sad now and I don't know what I should say.I think freedom is very important to him.
what should he do?

who was it who eavesdropped?it's bad habit to listen to others conversation but why he is so sad?perhaps he should warn that person who eavesdropped if he knows him/her.people should respect privacy.if it was his mum ,he should inform her in a respectful way that he doesnt like this as it is not a good thing.
