She shrieks all the time!

My little kid is going through a very annoying phase. She shrieks constantly and for no reason. If something is not going her way, then she shrieks. If we decide it's time to stop playing her game for a meal, she starts shrieking. If she starts a game and then decides that one of us is not playing by the rules in the middle of the game, she shrieks at the top of her lungs. The shrieking and screaming is driving me nuts. I guess this is the three year olds version of a tantrum, though I would have assumed she would be in the whining stage by now. Maybe I'm just lucky.
Does anyone have suggestions on getting her to curb her ruckus and take it down a notch or two? How did you deal with your kids when they went through this phase? Do you think she's just really bored or unhappy? I'm not sure, so any tips you might have that worked with your own kids would be much appreciated. Thanks!

We have a grandson who likes to talk very loudly all of a sudden. He seems to act like we can't hear him if he doesn't yell. So we simply remind him we are right here with him and we can all hear him. He doesn't have to be so loud. When we are out in a restaurant we tell him all the other people don't want to hear him. That usually helps. It can be very annoying.

Heck if I know, cause my 3 year old daughter does the same thing. All day long I listen to it. If you find an answer, I would love to know what it is!! :o)
