I worked rotating shifts for about 6 years. At that time, I did some research that showed that working rotating shifts contributes to more illness and could shorten your lifespan by about 7 years. I wish I still had all those articles. It is very bad for you. I switched to a new job that has permenant shifts, and about a year after I quit at my old job they, too, went to permenant shifts. If there is any way you can, try to show your employers how hard it is on the workers. They will have increased productivity and fewer absenses by going to fixed shifts.

I don't believe it is healthy at all. Your body doesn't know what to do and when. I use to work a job that changed shifts every week. One week 12 hour days and next week 12 hour nights. Everyone there says your body never gets use to it.
