I feed my puppies purina puppy chow, but I seem to have a slight problem, they have a lot of poopy. Is it just the puppy or is it the food? I have one puppy that is 8 weeks old, and one that is 15 months old. They are 3/4 mastif 1/4 pit, and 1/2 pit 1/2 boxer. The mastif mix goes like three times everytime I let her out and the other puppy goes like 20 times a day.. I tried different food, but that just gave them diarriah, and they don't seem to be able to eat the cheap food.. (of course not that would be too easy) So here I am going through a 20 pound bag of purina every 4-7 days.. HELP my dogs are eating me out of house and home.. What kind of food do you feed your dogs? Is there an alternative that is as good if not close to the name brand that is cheaper?

I feed my puppy Science Diet. It's not the most expensive dog food on the shelf, but it's not the cheapest either. My puppy likes it a lot better than Purina Puppy Chow. I couldn't get him to eat that at all. Best wishes.

We have a 6 month old St Bernard puppy and we feed him the purina puppy chow for large breed dogs. He does just fine with it though. I know we only feed him what the bag says but only because he is a large breed and he can get medical problems if we feed him to much. Do you think that maybe you feed them to much? Not saying you do lol I had never thought you could feed them to much untill we got our puppy now and the vet told us to feed him only what the age/weight on the bag says. I have also found that the purina is cheaper at petsmart then at walmart lol just fyi. not sure if thats the case everywhere :)

I'm currently feeding a mix of Royal Canin and Orijen for my pup, but I'm still testing to see what he really likes and neither of these seem to really do it for him. Eagle Pack is next on the list to try. I'd stay away from all the supermarket brands as they're normally junk food. It might be more expensive to buy a good brand from a petstore but the dogs will eat less of higher quality food so it's still not really more expensive. Canidae is a good quality food if you're on a budget. If cost is not much of an issue I'd try to find Orijen, Innova or Timberwolf Organics.
