http://www.technologyreview.com/Infotech/17354/page1/ google listening in on your private life via the microphone built into your comp (or monitor?) to determine what television shows you are watching so that advertisements can be all the more targeted. hello, right to privacy! I think I will put my comp out in the chicken coop :/

This is scary. I sure don't want something like this in my house. If they do this, I'll have to keep my computer separate from the main part of my house. I don't need any kind of eavesdropping for any purpose.

exactly! I am not even sure if they would inform us that they are doing it. they say that it would only pick up television sound, but somehow I doubt that its use will be limited to that...someone somewhere will find "reason" to use it for other purposes - eventually the technology will probably be made available to average joes.
