Do 'real' men take baths?

Do 'real' men take baths or only showers? Men, are you less manly if you take a bath rather than a shower? Ladies, do you think it is unmanly for a man to bathe rather than shower?

My man pretty much always takes a bath. He is a real man though. He just has bad knees, and when he comes home from work each day, they hurt him, so he wants to soak them in hot water. Also, he just feels too lazy to stand when he'd been standing 10 hours at work:D I don't stereotype, because my man IS a real man.

If he's been standing for 10 hours at work, I wouldn't say he's too lazy to stand...it's time for a rest.

my hubby wont take a bath unless his life depended on it, but my dad on the other hand ONLY takes baths, he dislikes showers...so i guess it depends on the guy!

I don't think that it is un-manly to take a bath. I personally don't like baths (I have issues with sitting in the filthy water), but it is a great way to relax sore muscles. Both my parents take baths every night and my husband occasionally will take something like a bath. I don't think the way that anyone cleans themselves affects how they act or perceived overall.

I am a man that loves a good long soaking in a hot bubble bath or a bath with essential oils added. I do this for relaxation purposes. If I am really dirty I take a shower then rinse off well rinsing the tub as well then will soak for a bit in a bath. I love the feel & aroma of bubble baths or essential oils. My wife & I buy a varied amount and scents of essential oils a lot for this purpose. So there you have it; a man that loves bubble baths or baths with oils added. HAHA!1 HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You go Grandpa! I'm glad to see that you are comfortable enough with yourself to say that you enjoy a bath! I don't know what the big deal is about a man taking a bath!

From what I know, baths or showers help to clean yourself and not to test your manhood;)

Well it's definetly less "masculine" if he's drawn the bath, put out the incense, lit some candles and pours himself some pink bubble bath. Other than that though, I think baths and showers are just about equal.

Sure, I don't think any less of a man who takes a bath. When I was still married I'd often offer to fill up the tub and stick some bubble bath in it. He'd come home with stiff muscles and I'd often tell him that a nice hot relaxing bath was just what he needed to calm down those muscles. He'd begrudgingly take a hot bath, and then afterwards he'd always say 'I should do that more often!.' I don't think there's anything unmanly about it at all!

When hubby is getting ready for work in the mornings, he takes a shower. After some physical activity like mowing the lawn in really hot, humid weather, he'll take a shower. But to relax, he sometimes likes to take bubble baths and soak. He also does this to sooth sore muscles.

shower - shower head from my bathroom.
I think so. Hubby takes showers more often due to it saving him time in the mornings and between tasks, but on lazy weekends, he takes a bath. It helps sooth aching muscles, yet he won't admit it, LOL.

I don't think it's unmanly at all for a man to bathe :) My husband showers during the week for work but, when he is really sore and achey or when he has more time, he loves to soak in a tub. He says he just feels cleaner after a bath versus a shower. He is really in tune with his personal hygiene and, believe me, I'm grateful LOL My brother-in-law is definitely the "manly man" type - plays tons of sports and the whole nine yards - and he also LOVES to take baths. He has bath products marketed specifically to men and is very attentive to his overall appearance. He's a good looking man and women do notice LOL

Growing up in Scotland we did not have showers in our homes and I know for sure that all the men were very manly.

I'm strictly a shower guy. It's not that I'm not in touch with my feminine side or think I'm too many for a bath (for goodness sake, look at me with the earrings and nail polish), I just simply find the idea of a bath gross. You get in, wash, and then spend another 15 minutes soaking luxuriously in your own filth...if I wanted to do that I'd reincarnate as a pig.

ROFLMAO!!! I too have always felt that way about being in the water with my own filth! I have to shower first...then soak in a tub if I am going to soak in a tub for relaxation or what-not!

I think it would be nice if my husband wasn't a 5 minute wonder. What's a 5 minute wonder? Someone who takes a shower in 5 minutes and you wonder how he did it. My friends all think that's a great joke because their husbands do the same. I think it's fine if a man takes a bath. But most bathtubs aren't long enough for my husband (I'm 5 foot 3 and the tub is too short for me;he's way taller). So I don't think the bathtub industry has ever really taken them into consideration. Something to think about anyway.

i do both. there is nothing wrong with the both i think. if i can get a complete feeling of cleanliness in a bath then why not. after all, what is our purpose of getting washed? personally, unless i am in a hurry, i take the shower of course.

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong about a man taking a bath at all. I think it would be just fine.

How funny crazynurse, I have never thought of this, as my partner takes baths and showers and I have never thought he was less manly for taking a bath. I am glad he does as I know he has had a good soaking some days instead of a quick in/out of the shower!!

I don't know of any men that take a bath instead of a shower. It's just weird. If the bath were big enough for two, then I could see that happening. Other than that, I would think that those that have physical or mental limitation would take a bath. I don't like baths because I water seems to get too cold too soon, and it's just not worth it. If I had a whirlpool, that would be a different story. I don't think it's wrong for a guy to take a bath, it's just weird.

I see nothing wrong with men who take baths, cn. Actually, my ex takes both showers and baths. Sometimes men want to relax in a hot tub just as much as a woman does.

In my opinion real men keep themselves clean. I do not care if they wash themselves with the hose or in the river just as long as they are clean. LOL

I wouldn't mind having a nice bubble bath with a man at all.
