A friend of mine who works at a private doctors office had just gotten fired today. I feel that she was let go unfairly. I know that there are other workers there that should have been let go first if anything. What can she do? This is really unfair, what would you do?

I have been restructured out of positions where the company was trying to cut costs. Maybe that is what is at play here? Most companies can hire and fire as they please. Maybe she was a higher earner than others, or maybe she had less education than others. They could have fired her just because they felt the need to. There's not much she can do, except look for another job or maybe if she was fired through no fault of her own (ie. tardiness, absenteeism, etc.) then she should file for unemployment benefits.

well this is very much related to the employer.. if the employee has made little mistakes, you can tell him/her some other alternatives.you shouldnt fire him/her. It can ruin his/her career. But if the employee is making some big blunders, and the company is getting affected; which is intenstional by the employee for self benifits..he/she should be fired

I dont thinks she makes that many mistakes. What do you do for small practices that can do whatever they want! What would you do in this case?

well first you should try and figure out why you were fired...were you written up? if you feel you were fired unfairly, contact a lawyer to see if your case is ok...perhaps you can sue for wrongful dismissal???

Yeah she was never notified about any problems and i personally feel like she shouldnt be in that seat. She works her butt off. There is someone who should be in that place. Its just awful. This place is a private practice and well unfortuneatly i know you can do whatever you want. But why treat your employees like crap? Word of mouth goes out really fast.
