I have never seen any baby boys with their ears pierced. Maybe in another culture. In my culture only baby girls get their ears pierced. I personally think it is a rediculous thing to do to an infant.

I used to pierce ears when I worked for a jewlery store at a mall. I unfortunately had to pierce a few babies' ears. I would never have my baby's ears pierced becuase you never know how their earlobe will grow. I've seen 2 different cases of toddlers coming into the store to have their ears repierced because the piercing no longer was in the center of the earlobe do to the way the ear grew making the second peircing difficult not to create a large whole in the child's ear.

I think the child deserves to decide whether he/she wants to get their ears pierced. Especially in the case of boys where many guys do not like their ears pierced.

I have seen a few baby boys with their ears pierced. I will not get any of my kids' ears pierced until they are old enough to make that decision themselves. Parents get their babies ears pierced because it looks "cute". ..the baby doesnt care what it looks like, all they know is that it hurts!! Let it be their own decision!

I think it's a matter of preference but I would personally not choose to do it. I am pretty conservative about appearance and wouldn't choose that for my son. If he's much older and chooses it for himself I might be okay with it but I'm not "going there" on his behalf now! Also, I'm not sure I agree with piercing a baby's ears of any gender. I wasn't allowed to get pierced ears until I was 11 or 12 and I think that's more appropriate, when you have more of an opinion and can make a decision.

Personally I wouldn't like a baby of either gender to have their ears pierced. I'd want them to be able to say yes or no to something like that.

Me too. I totally agree. I would want my baby to chose whenever he gets ready. If he wants his ears pierced, thats fine with me. Tattoos before your 18 is another issue.

I think that it is a matter of preference - many younger parents have one of their baby boys ears pierced. I, myself, have no problem with it - and if the child decides as he grows up that he does not want it, he can stop wearing earrings and no one will know. While I would probably not have my son's ears pierced, I do not see anything wrong with someone else doing it.
