What is Pospartum Depression?
I have read to an article that Postpartum depression (also postnatal depression) is a form of clinical depression which can affect women, and less frequently men, after childbirth. It is widely considered to be treatable. Studies report prevalence rates from 5% to 25%, but methodological differences among the studies make the actual prevalence rate unclear.
I Have read this to the internet that a number of things besides hormonal changes may sometimes be a factor in pospartum depression. These include a womans personal idea about motherhood, which may result from an unhappy childhood & poor parental relationships. Unrealistic expectations imposed on mothers by society. A family history of depression. Marital dissatisfation & lack of support from ones immediate or extended family. Poor self image. feeling over burdened or overwhelmed by caring for young children full-time.

I suffered from postpartum depression after having my first child. Alot was going on. Becoming a new mother, returning back to work, how I looked. I didn't want to even get out of bed. I was put on medication and then hurricane Katrina hit us. More depression. I was happy that I was already on the medication it made life alot easier. After my second child I didn't feel any depression. I was happy to finally not be pregnant anymore and Thankful I had a beautiful baby.
